2017 Axis 24.1--Anyone know tricks to draining the water heater. The plastic plug is tight and not sure the size or best tool to use.

I believe it takes a 15/16" socket. A ratchet with small extension and swivel adapter works pretty well to remove it.

You might want to get an extra plug for the parts box. The plugs, since they are plastic, will round off after repeated removals. Here is the link to them on Amazon.

Les, I only empty my water heater when I winterize it. I flush it out after de-winterizing and filling the tank.

That last post should read that I flush it out prior to filling the tank after de-winterizing.
There's a wand that attaches to a garden hose with a cut off valve you can get from Amazon that works pretty well to remove any sediment, etc.

I empty mine as part of the winterization and then rinse it out with a wand during de winterization. If by some chance I haven't had the coach out for a month then I may drain it to get stagnant water out of tank. Actually I pay more attention to getting stagnant water out of the outdoor shower than I do the water heater.

The other time I will drain the water heater is when I am camping at an area with a high sulfur content in the water. I want that stinky stuff gone as fast as possible.
