2018 Thor Four Winds 30D Bunk House

Just bought the RV a week ago after down sizing from the Super C.
A couple of items,
  • Where is the Fresh Water drain? There is a hot and cold line poking out of the floor under the master bed but can't find the valve anywhere.
  • Is there a hot water tank drain?
  • The Black and Grey dump is turned inward. What is that all about. Bad QC or is this new? If new, they need to re think it.
  • Where is the water pump? I'm getting some really bad water hammering.
  • Back to the QC thing. First trip out had a water leak on connection to water heater while hooked up to water. I was able to tighten the plastic connector. But does Thor pressure test at all?

For the fresh water drain: Find the fresh tank and you'll find the drain, typically Thor puts the fresh drain really close to the tank.

If you have the instant water heater most likely no drain.

Sewer drain: not new--it should rotate--grab it and give it a yank.

Water pump: Find the fresh tank pump should be nearby as well.

Thor QC: Nope

Found grey, Black and gas tank. Going to check mid class when I get off work. My Super C had FW in the rear. Open the access door and you had the Tank, drain and pump.
The WH is not an insta hot. I find it strange that there is cold and hot tubes coming out from under the master flooring. You would think with all the room right there that's where the FW tank would be.

The search goes on. I just hate leaving water in the WH and FWT.

Thanks for the heads up on the dump station. Will try spinning tonight.

If the water heater is a tank the drain is usually behind the outside panel--the nylon plug (Thor doesn't use water heater's with an anode rod that I know of).

Would like to hear an update on how the 30D is holding up. My brother is considering used 2019 or 2020. Any insights would be appreciated.

The 30D has a few kinks. The bunks are to small as my 14 year old son already out grew it. The V10 is gutless and throws engine codes left and right. Great for non hill areas! The master area developed a leak in the roof and slide out. Have to replace master floor now. Waiting on quote. The dining area backs up to the passenger seat so you can’t pull seat back or even recline a little.

I realize this thread is 2.5 years old, but I'm wondering if you ever found the fresh water tank drain?

I have a 2019 30FE, which is the identical layout of your Four Winds, and I finally found mine. The info for others who may not have found it - - Inside the large storage bay at the rear of the driver's side, there's a panel on the left wall; removed the 4 screws and BINGO - there's the big red drain valve. Also access to the tank gravity fill, the city water and black tank flush connections.

We also found that the bunks really aren't made for adult-sized people. And the TVs at the foot of each bunk are basically useless.

I did, it’s under the mater bed and yes those RV are pretty useless. We are looking to trade it in and go back to a SuperC. Just hate the payment though.

Doug,

What year is your 30D? My brother may be interested in learning more about yours.
