2019 Thor Aria 39' One Step Polish

Hello everybody, this is going to be my first post. Hope everybody likes it.

A customer had purchased a 2019 Thor Aria 39’ from a dealership that I service often. Upon picking up, the customer noticed what looked to him as brush marks or towel marring on the paint throughout the whole coach. I recommended a two-step polish but the manufacturer opted for a one-step polish instead.

Once the RV was washed and dried, I inspected the paint and did not really notice any brush marks or towel marring but did notice minor buffer trails from a rotary polisher and a good amount of swirls. After polishing a section, it became clear that these swirls were not wash induced but rather left over sanding marks that had not been brought up to 3000 grit properly. Went with a more aggressive pad and ended up getting around 60% removal rate. If these were actual wash marks then I would expect around 85% removal rate of defects.

Wash:
Washed using Meguiar’s Gel Wash (M54)

Dried with microfiber towels

Paint decontaminated with a mild clay bar on both the front and rear caps

Tires:
I never really use my typical wheel cleaners on Alcoa wheels unless absolutely necessary. Instead I use the same wash soap and then clean with a microfiber mitt.

Tires were degreased using Meguiar’s Super Degreaser

Dressed with Hyper Dressing diluted 1:1

Wheels detailed with P&S Bead Maker

Metal Trim/Mirrors:
Polished with Zephry P40 and a microfiber pad

Paint:
Polished using a Rupes 15 Mark IIon speed 5 (in the first two passes) then speed 4(on final pass).

I first started using a yellow Uro-Tec pad but that was barely doing anything to the sanding marks and finally tried a Uro-Tec wool pad and was very surprised on how well it finished. These paints are extremely soft and surprised how well they handled under wool.

Swirls on the passengers side towards the rear cap.
