2020 Thor Vegas 24.1

Well, we decided to go smaller and bought a new Thor Vegas 24.1. We've had larger coaches for years and decided we're not doing two month trips anymore and will stay closer to home and do shorter trips. Drove the Vegas yesterday with the Ford 7.3 V8, 430hp and 475 pounds of torque. It drives like a sports car and with a much smaller dog house. Surprised at how quiet compared to the V10 so I think this is a good move for us now.

Congratulations.
You'll love that you can park anywhere a dually truck can park.
We pull into little driveways at antique stores, drive right down town in tiny old towns and into any Gas station we damn well please.
And there's a fair chance your 24.1 has as much storage space as you'll ever need.

It's a world of difference. We're so glad we found the 24.1 before we built a super c.

Go look at my signature thread and the Vegas 123 thread. Lots of easy mods there.
Our best so far
Raising the front of the seats and inch using spacers.
An android radio with 100 travel apps on it
A remote control for the bathroom fan
The rain gutter bin on the dash
2 inches of rigid insulation under the mattresses.
Velcro buttons on the damn rattly.metal bars on the bottom of the blinds.

The storage wasn't far off from the Hurricane 35M so we think that's going to be fine. Kate noticed the rattling blinds and the remote for the bathroom fan sounds like a must. We have a 3" topper we're going to use from the old coach, the mattress are firm. Thanks for the suggestions.

Congrats on the new motor home. How was Las Vegas? We went there on June 07-09 just after they had re-opened up. We had a great time. Looking forward to our trip to Yellowstone in 2 weeks.

Paul

A 24.1 warning:
Just because the nose fits through a garage doesn't mean the body will.
The nose is 5+" narrower than the rear.
I caused no damage to the vehicle but I had to take a Sawzall to the Newell post in the garage when the nose fit past it, but the 24.1 caught the post right at the dually's....
I had to whack the post off of the stairs to get everything untangled.

Looks like I misspoke on the engine specs. 350 hp and 468 torque with a 10 speed transmission. Still drives like a sports car though.

Congrates. Im glad to hear the new V8 is quieter. But its still a 6 speed tranny.

But all of the little extras that Ford had on the new chassis (Gauge cluster, TPMS etc) make the new Axis / Vegas that much better IMO.

Is the tpms on the new chassis a real tpms which tells you tire pressure on a display or Just a stupid Unsettable alarm lime on my king ranch?
It's worthless and doesn't allow for any parameters except some odd pressure preset at the factory.
I put an aftermarket tire stem external sensor tpms on the kr just so I could see what's going on tire wise.

Yep, it's a 6 speed trans. I was reading the specs for the new 7.3 on a truck. It's still has amazing pickup and seems much quieter than the V10.

I may have to trick the Missus into letting me take one of those trucks out for a test drive...
That little 2.0 liter EcoBoost in her Escape ROCKS!

Well, we're replacing a Hurricane 35M so much lighter coach with more hp is going to feel like a sports car. It'll be fun anyway.
