I think the Maverick will fit lots of people. We will look at it. If 10 ply tires and 4x4 are available, it will suit our needs. But, variety is the splice of mice.

My wants for a TOAD are to take us into the rough roads and back country of the surrounding areas we camp in. We don't have much interest in pulling a vehicle that must stay on the same paved roads as our RV.

The Maverick is aimed at suburbanites, trip to hardware stores, bike, kayak hauler, 4X4 lite off roading.
The hybrid doesn't have 4X4 this year, maybe in a few years
The 4X4 non hybrid (2.0 EcoBoost) is not flat towable

We have a hybrid toad ordered, thanks to covid probably wont get it till 1st gtr 2022

We live several miles from paved roads, we get snow and at times it is 2-3 days before the plows clear path. So as it is we have everything 4x4 or all wheel drive.
I like the concept of this vehicle but it probably won't meet our wants/needs.

Correct — hybrid is FWD only. And if going with EcoBoost engine to get AWD, City and Combined MPG ratings drop considerably.

Below is summary posted in a different forum:
