I was going through my purchase documents today trying to find out if I had any Chassis Warranty information from Ford to explain the start date for my 3 year / 36000 miles warranty when I found this
At the time of my purchase, my Dealer provided me the
Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle for my VIN F-53 Stripped Chassis. My
stripped chassis weighed 6,003 lbs as it is the recorded Shipping weight from Michigan to Iowa.
They also provided me a 2nd
Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle for a Completed RV from Winnebago ( Iowa) to La Mesa RV ( Florida).
My RV's shipping weight is 15,144 lbs
So now I can say definitively that with my max load of 2 extra passengers and their luggage which is a total of 2,076 pounds,
my actual full loaded weight is 17,220 pounds; which means I have
780 pounds available; which is 351 pounds more than what I had manually calculated
But the real takeaway here is that apparently Ford does provide the shipping weight to the RV Mfgs and the RV Mfgs (at least Winnebago does) provides the Shipping weight to the Dealer, and the Dealer provide both to the Customer... at least La Mesa RV in Port St Lucie, Florida did who just continue to impress me two years after the sale.
I have legal documents that proves my shipping weights (chassis & completed vehicle
I will make copies and keep in the RV with my other Registration materials.
Now I know I will never need a weigh; even if I tow as long as the tow vehicle is under 5,000 lbs and no other excess luggage is being carried
