Hi Jerry....thanks for pointing me to your thread. I didn't think about the 12-volt wire going to the existing vent fan and using them as pull-wires. I would have only discovered this like you did.
From what I read, you must have installed a separate plug on the side of the coach?
What size/brand AC did you go with?

Thanks!!
When you installed your second AC...I'm assuming you installed a separate breaker for it? If so, where did you put yours? And was it a 13.5K or a 15?

Nope, no breaker in my install.
When plugged into the MH it's protected by the circuit's circuit breaker.
When plugged into the pole it's protected by the pole's 20 amp circuit breaker.
Now if you plug into a 30 amp or 50 amp receptacle on the pole using adapters it would be unprotected.

BTW, here's my second A/C install posts. Not a 29M but I also used the 12 VDC wires to pull the AC power cord:

I installed a 13.5 Coleman. I did install a breaker and put it in the storage cabinet above the bed. The Romex was then run into the coat cabinet then into the wall, bath /bed wall, then down to the floor. That was the hardest part of the job. The floor storage cabinets back wall comes out given a little bit of access. We used a small chain and magnet to fish the chain down and out a hole in the bottom of the walll. Then hooked romex to chain to fish it down wall
I ran the wire out of the hole under the bed with all the other wires. Ran the wire in flex conduit to where the stock plug is located. I installed the same 30 amp plug as stock. To use I ran two 30 amp cables to the pedestal and connected them to a 50 amp to two 30 amp adapter
Probably over kill with 10 guage wire and 30 amp plug but I'd rather go over than under

If you add a Dometic Penguin II high efficiency AC, it only requires 14ga wire and a 15 amp breaker. It is fairly quiet and very cold AC.

Did you connect up the wires to the same circuit as the existing AC, or pick another circuit?

A separate circuit. It is the outlet circuit so rarely any significant load.

Yes it is possible but not recommended. Since the National Electric Code (NEC) recommends 80% or less load for breakers and circuits, the 80% of 30 amp should be 24. amps.
Having lived with a 30 amp coach in the Texas summer heat, all you have to do is to go out to the shore line when the Coleman Mac 15 has been running continually for 4 hours and check the temperature of of each end on a 100 degree day. If you are lucky, it will be only very hot (130 degrees). I can not imagine how hot the connectors (plug and receptacle) would be trying to pull 28 amps through the shoreline on a hot day.
All the Coleman Polar models use three electrical motors (compressor, interior fan, exterior fan). The interior fan is much quieter that the Mach15 on low; where as, the interior fan on high is quite a bit louder than my Mach 15 on high. Both are ducted with independent thermostats.

I have two Coleman Airxcel 13.K units an I just installed SoftStart's in them both yesterday.
I only installed 30A service for my Magnitude in my garage. I tested the SoftStarts using my 30A service and according to my Progressive EMS, I was seeing 11 - 13A on each line with them settling in at 12A each.
I installed the SoftStart to run both A/C's if we need to and only have a site with 30A service available.
I also can run one of my A/C units off my Xantrex Freedom XC 3000 Inverter and 850Ah of LiFePO4. I haven't tried yet it with the SoftStart but I could probably run both A/C's off my Inverter now... but I would probably be right up against the limit of the Inverter. I wouldn't ever run both at the same time but I may test it to see if it is possible.

My Chateau 31W has 30 amp electrical service. I recently installed a second AC, a non-ducted Coleman Mach 1 11K BTU unit, to augment the 15K BTU AC it came equipped with from the factory. Before I ever fired the new unit up I installed EasyStart Micro-Air soft start units in both the old and new ACs. I also installed a dedicated 30 amp circuit for the RV with a connector on the outside wall of my garage where the unit is parked when we're not on the road. I added the 30 amp circuit, partly because I've long wanted to have one instead of having to use a dogbone to plug into a 15 amp circuit, but mostly so that I could properly test out the installation and perform the necessary calibration of the soft start units, which "learn" the current draw profile of an AC over the first five or six startups and adjust their operating characteristics accordingly.
The soft start units work great, and the difference in cooling capacity is nothing short of phenomenal. I am completely comfortable with the safety of my installation, and other than not firing up the microwave when both ACs are running to avoid the remote possibly of tripping the main breaker I don't expect to have to do anything out of the ordinary related to appliance usage.
However, if you do not feel comfortable doing things the way I did then running a second, dedicated circuit to power a second AC is a great alternative, one that avoids the need to install soft start units and eliminates the risk of possibly overtaxing your factory-installed 30 amp service.

Thank you very much for contributing to my POST. This is the route I plan to take. If I have to run the microwave, I'll turn one of the AC's off. Not a big deal considering that I rarely use the microwave anyway.
