Filling fresh water tank

Omg! Why is everything so hard? A standard water hose is too big!! We are in the mountains and need to fill before tonight... ugh!

I had one of those camco things but it broke. My regular white water hose from wally world fits right in the opening, easy peasy. But, here lately all I have to do to fill my water tank is turn on the water pump while hooked up to city water. I guess that is one advantage of a weak check valve.

I have never seen a fresh water tank filler opening that didn't easily take a standard hose end. What model Thor do you have? My Windsport will accept a hose end with the quick release. I just stick it in and let it fill until water is coming out of the vent hole.

You aren't trying to fill the generator exhaust pipe are you?

Our filler is very high up on the side of the RV. Is it possible that something in the opening that you can't see is preventing the hose from fitting in the filler?

Never, in the history of rv's.
We'll need a picture.

And:
You make a funnel of folds of tin foil.

Or
You cut the bottom from a water or soda bottle

Or
You sacrifice the hose, cut the end off, and buy a replacement end for 3 bucks if and when you need a replacement end.

Or

Ask the people next to you in the camp for help.

Never?

There is a hose adapter someone pointed me to that I have ordered... It’s late I will grab a picture tomorrow...

See if you can find a old hose and cut a couple of feet off the female side and attach it to your hose and it should fit in the fill tube.

I was actually on my way back here with just a tiny bit of advice for the O.P.
(Not that it will help with this episode...)
It always pays dividends to check everything out; before taking off on a trip.
Make sure that you can fill (and empty!) all of the tanks, you know how to shut off the propane to everything, and you have a practical working experience with all of the on-board systems...
(I'm sorry if the flaunting was too obvious... )

I think flaunting is acceptable in SOB's.

Along those lines for those who, like me, are tired of dragging a water hose around to the wrong side of the Axis-Vegas to fill your tank; is the poor man's-lazy man's water select valve under bed. With a few bucks- fittings and a valve you can stop dragging that hose around and leave it connected.
Not sure if I posted this before or if it is flaunting or informative.

I don't have a gravity fill on my Thor Siesta for the fresh water tank. I just switch the kantleak valve to tank fill while on city water to fill my fresh water tank.

Just be careful. I used that product and because it is stiff and straight it dislocated the internal fill tube. Water poured out of many places and floor was flooded. Tried many ways to repair it myself but had to have professional do it. He said it was very difficult as it is located behind the hot water heater. I don't mind just standing there and holding the hose now.
