Almost had a disaster here...

I decided to drop the TV down off the jacks, pull in the slides, unhook from shore-power, and give it a little chance to stretch it's legs today...

Privacy shades out of the way...
Tire covers off...
Jacks up...
solar charger disconnected...
Power cord disconnected...
Slides in?
Not quite!
It turned out that I forgot to close up the bedroom windows that were in the slide. They were catching on the body of the RV, as I tried to retract!
Fortunately: I caught myself before I did any damage.
The moral of the story: don't forget about windows in your slides!

The side windows in my slide are slide windows (they slide sideways) so that would not be an issue. The kitchen window on the outer wall is a tilt-out window.

The "Pre Fight" check list every time avoids issues. Just wish I followed mine every time. Every once in a while we just get up and go. Fortunately, no damage just embarrassing thank you fellow RVers.

The advantage of a tilt-out window is that you can leave them open during a storm; with minimal chance of the rain co.ing in..

I have no side windows in my slide; and only tilt window is the Emergency Window in the rear of the coach in bedroom that has no screen. Thus far I only cracked a window or two in front when temperature is nice and cool outside. I turn on the maxx air vents to help pull fresh air inside.

My biggest danger of slide is remembering to make sure the driver chair is turned back around and forward. When I first got RV, I once was bringing slide in and it hit the chair. It put a slight bend; but I can't really tell where to see if it can be straighten up?

Tell me about these storms with no rain. Locusts, dust, fire or just what? I assume if it is snowstorm you want it closed?

Would someone please explain the term "rain"? Not familiar with that here in California.

Well a long time ago before the earth went through global warming transformation you use to see moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls visibly in separate drops of water molecules. It was called rain, but as Bob noted there is minimal chance of it now

We've been having that minimal chance all spring and summer.

The poster that posed Question about Rain definition is in California. The Global warming is coming in from the West. Being in Alabama you wouldn't know anything about that now, and may not even believe it is coming

We just got rain today in Texas for 1st time in 2 weeks, but it has actually been one of the wettest years on records. All of the local reservoirs are full. We have Neighbors fighting with each other because some believe others are not conserving water, some are actually dumping good water to get down to 1/3 tank before a trip

Some locals don't understand that when reservoirs are full; there is no concept of water conversation from the local supply as the water that is not able to be retained at the dams will eventually make it's way to the ocean and help flood the islands and cities on the ocean coastal shores It is really a hot mess... when you factor in or discount things like that hard freeze that hit Texas or that worst winter storm to hit Colorado in 100 years.
Of course all of this is non issue if Bob just keeps his tilt out window shut, so the climate cannot be a factor inside his RV

Oh we have climate change in Alabama. Every year we have warming and call it summer a few months later we have "global cooling", and that we call winter. In Alabama we are smart enough not to keep election politicians who will promise endless spring and free sunshine.

You can talk to water all you want and it won't listen.

This thread is starting to remind me of how much water to put in the water tank! All because Bob almost forgot to close a window. Bob you need to quit sharing your dirty laundry!

I had one of those round window cling thermometers, probably about 6" in diameter. It fit perfectly on the window on the side of the slide and was in a good spot to read from inside.

Had.

Brought the slide in and heard a terrible crunching noise. Fortunately the thermometer just crushed and didn't break the window.
Now I just look at my phone to see what the temperature is somewhere in my current zip code but it isn't quite the same.

I bought a wireless thermometer and put the sensor near the roof just inside of the forward awning arm where it would be protected from the wind as we drive and shaded by the awning when it is deployed. Ours has a barometer also.
