Another Camping World experience

We passed through Tucson today on our trip to California. We needed a few supplies for the ACE and decided to stop at Camping World of Tucson. We were surprised to find, you can't park at CW of Tucson in an RV. The only RV parking is for those there for service. So, we drove on through and got back on I-10 and kept going. Apparently, they don't want business from RVers passing through the area.

Must be nice to make so much money that you can turn customers away! Was parking that limited? Did they have a sign indicating no parking? Not a big CW fan, just curious how they can justify turning away paying customers!!!

That sort of thing could also be terms of the building lease or city ordinance or something else (not defending CW but there could be other factors--it would be CW to sign a lease without reading through the rules until its too late! LOL).

The parking lot was not laid out to accommodate any RV parking and there was a "No RV Parking" sign. They also had a big "RV SALES, NOW OPEN" sign. I thought they may have just recently opened and didn't pick a very good location. It is, however, close to several rv parks (as is everything in Tucson). Maybe they depend on customers camping there to visit in their toads. Those parks are pretty well crammed to the gills with snowbirds. My OP wasn't as much a criticism as situational awareness for others traveling through Tucson to avoid their getting off the interstate when they see the big flag and driving busy surface streets with a couple of long traffic lights and turns just to find out too late, they can't stop at the store.

After a second cup of coffee: I have a potential "alternate view" of this situation:
They might not have been forbidding ALL RV parking: just the overnight parking...
If I wanted to shop in there: I'd have pulled in, done my business, and left. If anyone had dared to complain: that's when I'd start making a fuss about the foolishness of their sign...

Just another good reason from a long list to avoid Camping World and shop Amazon or other retail stores.

Bob, there was no room to park an RV without driving through into their fenced service area.

I think I would have had to at least call the store and ask for a quick explanation of that sign. That would be like traveling on our Harley and pulling into a Harley dealership and seeing a sign stating "no motorcycle parking".

If you called that CW and they said it meant no overnight parking then I think I would have explained to them that they should re-do their sign to state exactly what they meant. If they said it meant no parking of RVs anytime then there you go, typical CW.

Ahhh... The lack of sufficient room IS a source of concern.
I'd have been tempted to park it back there, and complain LOUDLY if any of their employees has something to say about it...

parking

La Mesa and Camping World have no place to park an RV to shop in the store. They would fine a spot if you were trading it in I am in Phoenix area, most of the RV dealers and shops have limited parking. Walmart is best. There are few gas stations that you can get an RV in also I have 45 feet with a toad.Takes a 40 acre field too make a u turn.

They must sell propane. Tell them you want to top off the propane tank, you know that won't happen quickly...it's CW then when they are dealing with that...go shopping.

That's a GREAT idea! Especially if you only take about a buck and a-half's worth!
