Anyone know the thickness of the exterior wall of the slideout on a 29M?
Hi everyone...
I'd like to install a broom/mop/etc holder on the backside of the closet which is part of the slide out. However before I go screwing something into this wall, I'd like to know if anyone knows the thickness. I'd had to put in a screw and end up punching through the fiberglass exterior wall.
Also, if anyone has any photos/suggestions on where they mounted their cleaning products, please share them! I'm tried throwing stuff in the shower.

I put a spring clip rack on the bedroom side of the bathroom wall. It’s an interior wall. I put it by the rear outer wall as I didn’t want to run a screw through the plumbing. My walls seem to be about an inch and a quarter thick. I installed awnings over my windows on drivers side with 1” screws. Nothing poked through on the inside. Whatever you do, watch out for plumbing and electrical.

If you have time, I'd like to see what you have.
Sometimes I just want to take a shower and clean off all the dust when camping and I spend about 15 minutes taking stuff out...big back of dog food, drying cloths rack, broom, duster, RV cleaning brush that you hook up to the hose, blah blah blah.

Cut a piece of 1 x 4 the width of the closet. Squeez some GE silicone on the back of the board and hold it in place for a few hours with masking tape. Remove the tape and install hooks or the bracket suggested above. No holes in wall and more secure than screws.

Not sure if the Hurricane is made like our Quantum but if it is connecting stuff to the outside wall can be tricky. Here is a photo of a section of the outside wall that was removed with a hole saw when I installed the dryer vent. As you can see it is just a little over an inch thick and has a sheet of metal on the inside layer under the interior wallboard and a sheet of luan on the outside layer just below the fiberglass. The blue stuff you see is painter's tape I used to mark the drill location. The majority of the wall thickness is made up of Styrofoam insulation.

Very cool to see this. I thought perhaps they used wood.
Knowing this, I can see that using small screws that went into the aluminum metal would probably do the trick.
Thanks!

The left and right walls of the coach are made one piece (each side is one piece). The entire side is then milled on a CNC router table, squaring the outside edges and cutting out the window openings, slides openings and storage compartment doors (assuming there is a storage compartment in the wall). The back wall for the slide is the cutout from the entire wall. Thus, the back wall of a slide should fit perfectly in the side wall with the gap being the diameter of the router bit.

I use 1/2" hollow wall anchors for virtually everything on the interior walls. All the walls, even the slide, are over an inch thick. These hollow wall anchors are great. Just drill a starter hole the diameter of the anchor, then insert the anchor, ensuring the 2 little "fins" are fully into the wall - these prevent the anchor from rotating when you are screwing in the screw that expands the anchor. You can find plenty of videos on these anchors on YouTube - here is one.
Happy hanging!
