Awning Light Issue

Need help...The awning light doesn't stay on for more than 2-3 seconds when connected to 30 amp but works fine with generator and/or house batteries? Any suggestions or ideas?

Well that makes no sense. The awning lights run off your 12 VDC house buss so as long as the house battery bank is connected to the buss they should work regardless of the status of SP or the generator. All SP and the generator do is supply 120 VAC to the converter to charge the house batteries unless you have disconnected the house batteries. If that is the case the ripple from the converter may not play nice with the LEDS causing the controller to shut them off.

FYI the house batteries should ALWAYS be connected to the DC buss unless storing the RV for more than a few days without SP connected.

Thank you for your reply. It didn't make sense to me either...do you know of a fix? Do you think a different LED strip will work or should I look at replacing the l converter?

I would take smaller steps using a multimeter. Especially if everything else in the coach seems to be working properly. I’ve never seen an AC light strip but maybe there is such a thing and possibly a previous owner installed it. Assuming that’s not the case, I’d track down the light strip wiring and figure out what is causing it to behave that way. Many light strips use a plug in transformer for power and possibly there is something going on with the outlet it’s plugged into. It’s certainly strange!

Does the rest of the 12v equipment work? If it doesn't then are you switching off the house batteries

Apologies for the late response, my phone was acting up and I simply forgot to turn on notifications. Yes everything else on the coach works fine.

Does the "scare" light work without 120v?

You should have a plug above the door or at the awning. Unplug it and check for 12 volts dc
