Exclamation Black awning

Does anyone other than me dislike the black awnings?
It's about 5 degrees warmer under our new BLACK awning that came on our '19 U23.

THOR: Please put light-colored awning on units sold in the south (FL) especially!

You make a good point.
Does anyone in here have a technique for cleaning both the top and bottom of their awning?

One issue I see often is people retract these backwards so that leaves and grime go into the V once rolled up rather than over the top of the rolled awning.

Yup!
I'm glad that mine is a "one-push of the button" setup.
On my Outlaw: I did manage to roll the awning backwards once.

I used Simple Green concentrate mix per instructions in a 1 gallon sprayer, extend the awning then while it's retracting spray liberally along it as it rolls up, let sit for 20+/- minutes, extend to uses medium bristle brush with Dawn soap, & rinse. This worked well for me even when extremely dirty. Also did same procedure on the roof minus the rolling up.

Did you use the brush on it as you unrolled it slowly, and could work against the roller?

How do you know it’s 5 degrees warmer under your black canopy? Did you measure temperature under identical weather conditions, at the same time of day, with the canopy in the same position relative to the sun, etc.? If you think about it, you are right that the canopy surface facing the sun will be hotter if the material is dark. However, polymeric materials are poor heat conductors so while the top surface will get hotter, the bottom will not get as hot. Additionally, any of the heat coming off the bottom of the canopy will quickly dissipate in the open air environment. So unless your face or top of your head is within inches of your canopy you are not going to see a difference.

Black is hotter no doubt but you’ll appreciate that in cooler weather.
