BMW 325i towing

can you tow a 325i on all 4 tires or do I need to put either the front or back tires on a tow dolly?

There are no BMWs listed in the Dinghy towing guides. Most tow Dollys will state to front end tow only, however, during my last trip to NC I saw a BMW and a Mercedes both being towed with the rear wheels on a dolly.

Might be safer to tow the BMW on a trailer.

It appears Blue Ox makes a base plate for them, so maybe a manual can be towed or the driveshaft may have to be removed.

I wouldn't take any chances: put it on a trailer.

Yes, get a trailer. That's what I did to tow our Mercedes.

Towing can be hard on a car. I would be reluctant to tow my SL500 unless it was in an enclosed trailer. And before I’d do that I’d go buy an additional vehicle to be a dedicated toad/bad weather car. A very serviceable used car could be less than a trailer and quite a lot easier to live with. I bought an older Jeep Wrangler but mostly because I’ve always wanted one.

Can flat tow only if you disconnect drive shaft. If you do not disconnect, you will damage transmission. BMW have transmission cooler that will not run when car not running and when in neutral the transmission will still heat up and cause damage. Best bet is to trailer if you want to to a BMW.

We have a 325i also and it has to be towed on a trailer. All 4 off the ground. It's in the manual and my husband checked with the dealer too. Same for our Toyota Camry.

Does it have an automatic transmission or is it a stick? I used to tow a Ford Expedition that was not four-wheel drive and was automatic transmission. Everything you would read said you couldn't but there was a company that made a drive shaft disconnect . Before I had that installed I actually had to get underneath the car with a 12 mm socket wrench and disconnect the drive shaft and tie it up so it wouldn't drag. It was a pain but it worked fine. Most manual transmission cars can be towed in neutral.
