AC Vent Fix

What is the P/N or name of the AC vent fix on Amazon???

I put Reflectix insulation inside all the windows (including the cab windows), outside compartment door and also inside the compartments. Also in the bathroom skylight and the 4 ceiling vents.
Going to move it out in the Arizona sun to see how it works.
Next step is to get a 15K BTU A.C. ($9xx.xx)

I think I'm gonna steal your idea. I already have the Bedroom AC wired to that area and adding the fuse will allow me to select which AC to utilize when on Generator.

I do have to say that I was skeptical about putting a vent on the ceiling AC cover would do anything, so I tried an informal experiment. The AC could not cool our Axis down on our last trip after a day on the road with only the cab AC working. So, I've been trying to fix that issue ever since I got home.

Last week, I did a test to see if my improvements up to that point would make any difference. In the middle of that test, I had the cover off while running the AC and noticed a considerable amount of air coming directly out of AC. I mean, blowing dust bunnies and paper around on the floor kind of air movement.

So, I just got back from running the AC without the cover to see if it cooled down the coach any faster.

So, both tests were started when the coach thermostat said it was 80 in the coach. With the cover on, after 35-40 minutes, the coach had cooled down to about 75. With the cover off, after the same 35-40 minutes, the coach had cooled down to 71.

I'd say that having the extra air flow made a huge difference.

A couple of caveats:
* When I ran the test with the cover on, it was about 86 outside air temperature. Today, for the cover off test, it was only 80. Other than the air temperature, everything else was the same (same time of day, same amount of shade, etc.)
* When I ran the cover off test, I wasn't using a fan to circulate the air in the coach. I relied on the AC to do that. It might have been even faster cool down if I had a small fan to circulate the air between the main part of the coach and the bedroom with the thermostat.

I'm going to order one of the vents and install it in the cover. The real test will be when we get back to Kansas or Colorado on the trip back out to Utah in August. It seems impossible to find shade in Kansas or Colorado where we need to stop for the day!

When we were in Galveston recently it was 95+ and the motorhome was parked in full sun with no shade. I set the AC to 70 degrees and the thermostat kicked off the AC frequently. Last year we were in Indiana, same conditions but without the vents in the cover, the AC never kicked off. Not a scientific test but I'm convinced of the benefit of having the vents installed, plus the mod was inexpensive and easy to do. Your results may vary!!!

Well, I got the vent yesterday (got to love Amazon Prime ) and installed it this morning.

I reran my test. The coach started off at 86 (due to the external temperature being 91). After 35-40 minutes, the coach had cooled off to 78.

I did notice that the front of the coach was cooler than the bedroom.

I ran the wiring through the same channel the vent fan had been run. I then ran it through the cabinetry and out through the back storage area. I used 25' of 10 guage Romax and connected to a 25' cord.

Many thanks SuperD for the mod you posted. Just received mine yesterday and installation was easy. Should be more cool air where we need it in cooking area.
Below is the link where I found this one for $8.75 delivered on Ebay.

Just a question, how does the addition of the vent effect the use of the ceiling ducts through out the coach?

The vent gives maximum cooling Air from the AC. The other roof vents
channel the flow throughout the RV, but the volume is decreased.

It reduces the amount of air from the overhead ducts a lot when you open the added vent. The big plus is that it cools the living-cooking area down quicker. Although, if you need more ac in the back area, you can close the ac off on the grill vents and it diverts the AC thru the ducts very well.
I wish the blower had a lower more quieter speed for night time sleeping.

I have a 2016 Axis 25.2 and would like to add another unit like you did. Where did you get the 110 circuit to do it with and you dont trip the 30 amp breaker doing that?

I'm just curious as to why you added the round vent when your cover has the sliding vents to allow cool air to be diverted down.
