CA Goodbye - Moving to Las Vegas

Grew up in San Diego, married the love of my life from La Jolla, took care of mom for 15 years in family home... but the taxes finally got us. $10,000 a year property tax, $500 a month electricity bills, $400 water bills etc. have driven us out. Too bad. We looked at a bunch of states and decided on Vegas (close enough to visit friends in CA), bought a great house, 1/3 acre in guard gated community with RV storage and hookup on the property for $265k.

Question, what local rv groups are there that you would recommend. The forum has been so great for us we would appreciate some tips...

Don't have much info as to your actual question, but welcome to the California ex-pats club! Born and raised near SF, myself, and lived all over the state, and I'm happy to be gone. Good move

If you are ok with dry camping there are a few groups who do that, but under another venue.. There is the Gem and Mineral club, the Las Vegas chapter of Gold Prospectors of America and the Golds Searchers of Southern NV. All have outings in decent weather, some hard core many just social. The LVGPAA is going up to northern NV in a couple weeks, stay at a BLM roadside rest, free, and do some prospecting. Also up there is Wheeler peak @ 12,500 ft you can drive to and one of the darkest places in the USA, they have telescope things...plus the underground caves.

Hey!
You gots Lake Mead, Bullhead City-AZ, Short trips to Grand Canyon, Albuquerque and Colorado
And now your Vegas is in Vegas. Who knew?
Great decision!

Meanwhile I’m stuck in San Diego County for the foreseeable future

What?

What kind of property/home were you living in that has that kind of overhead?

Did you also leave their politics behind? So many people are leaving CA and going to TX and NV but soon those starts will have similar issues.

If your village is like mine, it has its own RV club that goes camping about 4 times year. It is also a great source of info on local camping places. If you are a military veteran, you might join SMART. Their musters are usually well attended. <https://www.smartrving.org/>
