8 weeks and waiting...

I offered my 2017 1/2 Axis 8 weeks ago and still can't get an estimate on its delivery! I've asked the sales rep at CW for updates but he says there's no way to know until Thor notifies them that the unit has shipped.
It seems there should be some way to get a general idea about the status of the unit!
Am I wrong?

Did they give you any form of Thor reference #? If they did you could try giving Thor a call.

Interesting, when I ordered my Tuscany several years ago I was given an update every 2 weeks or so, walls are being installed, cabinets are being installed, in the paint shop, etc. Maybe Thor doesn't do that anymore, it would take one or two people full time to track where every coach is in the build process. Took 14 weeks to get my coach.

The dealer claimed Thor closed for a couple of weeks during the holidays and that was the delay in our build.

If they delay much longer, maybe you'll get a 2018.

I recently saw an add for a 2018 Axis on order, "coming soon".

Chance I feel like it's actually in production at least that's the impression the sales rep gave me! Wouldn't mind a 2018 though as long as the price was the same!

We ordered our 2017 24.1 Axis on 3/5/16
Took delivery at our New Jersey dealer on 5/13/16. We were told by the dealer the longer we waited to place the order It may take longer than eight week. It seems you placed your order plenty in advance of the season rush. As I recall during build , I called Thor to see where they were in the process and they were able to tell me. Good luck who knows maybe you are going to get a 2018 our 2017 was available March of 2016

My order was placed Jan. 10 2017!
If I call Thor directly will they be able to give me specifics just based on my name, the date the order was placed and the dealer information?

Well Sandy it didn't go well at all! according to Thor they have no way of tracking a particular coach through the assembly process without a VIN number and it is only assigned a VIN when it is ready to be shipped to the dealer!
I'm not sure how it has worked for others who had a different experience but apparently it is no longer possible.

Wow that certainly doesn't seem right! How frustrating!!! Hopefully your call may trigger something, even if they are unwilling to tell you.
If it were me, I would call back again in a few days.

Good luck . Let us know how it turns out.

I wonder if that is different across the different brands Thor has.

I've been getting the feeling that the different Thor brands are more separated than you may think. This is based on peoples conversations here, and even my experience at the Factory Service center. At the service center it appeared that the different brands were sent to different buildings to be repaired--even if they had similar systems. My Axis was in a building with other Axis/Vegas units but also some Ace units. Didn't see any other brands in that building. When I was calling over there to check on it I would be transferred around until they found the Axis/Vegas people LOL.

The customer service rep at Thor told me that the unit was built for the dealer not for the individual! So from that I guess the dealer is the only one with access to information about its assembly.
I agree that there does seem to be some disparity between the brands. Maybe the Axis isn't rated as highly as some of the more expensive models!

Our order has been in since January 2017. Started out as 3 to 5 weeks, then 4 to 6, then 6 to 8, now we're at 8 to 10 weeks. Dealer says nothing they can do until Thor gives them a VIN. When I contacted Thor they referred me back to the dealer. Dealer blames the Thor rep. Since we have put cash down it's really a waiting game. With each passing week we get closer to our annual vacation so it will really be a nightmare if they don't make delivery in time for my vacation.

I sold my 2006 Lance and my 2013 Cougar for this purchase!!!
