Here’s one from last year. We’ve only been out once this year, but have a lot planned for the rest of the season.

Hello Everyone,
I am so jealous, being stuck in sunny but still controlled by bunch of bureaucrats, California. It took me almost 2 weeks to find a spot for the 4th of July weekend. Still plenty of sites are still closed and the rest was already booked. Finally, I got lucky. Our family with bunch of friends will celebrate the Independence Day at Eagle Lake, Lassen County in Northern California. You will see our pictures soon

Our first trip with our new coach. So far so good. Minor things to fix/tighten/adjust. We upgraded from a class C Four Winds 28Z. This is a very nice coach inside and out. So far we are happy. The last picture is our last unit. Click image for larger version

Would you post a picture of your kayak and bike carrier setup? Where’d you get it?

Hello Jimbo56,
I had my Thule Apex 4 bike rack for a while as well as kayaks which were mounted on the roof of my SUV. Then we purchased our Axis. I came up with an idea of installing bumper hitch for the kayaks and purchased 2 kayak carrier from VertiYak. Unfortunately, this setup would not work. Axis's bumper is not sturdy enough for bouncing up and down kayaks, so I end up at square one with little twisted/bended bumber. At this point I started looking at cargo trays which would have to be modified to accomodate 2 vertically mounted kayaks. And of course I still had to deal with the bikes. I have also found another company making kayaks/bikes carrier called Yakups and almost went for it. The only thing that stopped me was long waiting period to get them (about 8 to 10 weeks) and their pricing. The setup I was looking at would cost me more than $2,500 + almost $300 for the shipping. This equipment looks solid and well built but they charge you for everything, even shipping.
I always liked my Thule bike carrier which can also carry 146 lb of cargo and the VertiYak as well and did not want to get rid of them. So, I went online searching more and came up with my current "design". I purchased 1 double hitch, 1 hitch extension, 3 locks for the hitches and 3 hitch tightener anti-rattle stabilizers. The double hitch is inserted into RV, the extension went to the lower hitch. The VertiYaks carrier is mounted to the upper double hitch and Thule bike carrier to lower double hitch. Each hitch connection is locked and secured by the anti-rattle stabilizers. I also had to modify a little kayak carrier. I reversed the upper bracket to get some support for one of the kayaks and had to cut their arms off about 6" so they would not hit the rear window of the motorhome during the drive while bouncing up and down. The bottoms of both kayaks are supported by the hitch and one lower bracket of the kayak carrier. The upper part of kayaks is supported by the top kayak's carrier bracket(reversed one). You will also see only that only one kayak goes through the lower VertiYak's bracket. Thule bike carrier had to go through the second opening. That was the only possible way to mount all of that equipment using this setup. And of course I used 8 heavy duty straps.
Hopefully pictures show/explain all of this much better. Total cost of the double hitch, extension hitch, locks and stabilizers about $120. I just come back from a 400 mile trip from the mountains, going through bumpy and winding roads. During the trip I made several stops to check the equipment. I only had to tighten bike's straps couple of times. Everything was tight, hitch connection solid and very sturdy. Finally, I am very happy camper now[emoji16].Click image for larger version

More pictures with mounted bikes and kayaks.

I need to add that we have 2 e-bikes and they are heavy, 67 lb each. For the trip, I removed both batteries, 7 lb each. I was watching how much weight it was put on the hitch.
Here is the total weight of the mounted equipment with bikes and kayaks:
2 e-bikes(without batteries) - 120 lb
2 kayaks - 88 lb
Thule Apex carrier - 42 lb (capacity 146 lb)
VertiYak - 45 lb (capacity 150 lb)
1 double hitch receiver - 17 lb
1 hitch extension - 9 lb
Stabilizers, locks - 5 lb
Total weight - 326 lbClick image for larger version
