Camping World in bad service

Do you know why this dosent happen often at dealers doing warranty work in the new car market? Because shabby dealers get their franchises pulled by the manufacturer! This Bullpoop warranty work problem is really Thor Mfg's problem. They need to step up and start ending franchises that can't meet average standards for customer satisfaction. I mean come on guys. Do we continue to patronize bad restaurants or find a new one? Do we buy the same brand of light bulbs when the last two from that company burned out in half the published time? No we don't. We adapt by moving on to something new or different. Perhaps Thor should take the next step and be more particular about who is ALLOWED to sell their products.
Very well spoken couldn't agree with you more!

Camping World is a public company. Service issues should be reported to corporate headquarters. The only way to improve a bad experience is to bring matter to a camping world executive. Poor service begins with a poor manager.

I am hopeful that we as consumers can make a difference.

It's my understanding that Camping World are franchises. The two crummier ones in GA that I've had dealings with are owned by a Mr. Lamonis(sp).

Recently broke down(wipers stopped working) near Myrtle Beach SC. Thor referred me to CW here in MB. First question; did you buy it here? No. well it will be three weeks before we can look at it. Talked to someone who had bought there's there. They were satisfied. An RV by nature is never close to home when you really need service.

Finally got a customer service rep at Thor to make some calls for us. We are scheduled to go in next Thursday to have the back splash behind the stove top and the toilet paper holder fixed "if the parts arrive on time?" These ar BOTH items that CW 'technicians' broke and did shoddy work on.

The service manager said they would fix them as a "goodwill gesture." Goodwill gesture! My Aunt Fannie's fanny! They are the ones who broke these things to begin with! Once all this is behind me, I WILL NEVER GIVE CAMPING WORLD MY BUSINESS AGAIN!

The Elf - IMO the real lesson is direct contact with Thor Customer Service should be one of the first calls made if not the first. Thor has resolved or helped me resolve every issue I've ever had.

CW of Statesville NC has been great to us with our Vegas. Granted, there has been a ton of personnel changes there in the last 2 years.

My Venetian has been in service for warranty work about 7 weeks. When camping World gets done I have to take it to Freightliner for blinking/short in the dash panel lights. Worst part of camping world is they don't return phone calls - Communication is very poor.

After 6 months we got fed up and retrieved our unit only to discover it had been damaged while on their lot. Even though they fixed the damage the customer service is so bad we can't wait to be done with them. They had submitted the warranty requests to Thor and had gotten approvals for the work so we are stuck letting them do the work now. The next appointment is for next Thursday and we will WAIT while they perform the work. We will not leave the unit with them again.

I discovered that the service department would respond to my emails better than return phone calls if that's of any help to you. Ask for your 'service advisors' email.

We're in Des Mones and took ours to Omaha CW where we bought our unit. They had it on their lot for 4 months. The levelers they put on when we bought the unit were not working. They kept giving me excuses when I called like they had workers quit, new guy taking work orders, and they said the leveler manufacturer was not calling him back to get the parts they needed. I called the company myself the next day and the parts were on order. I told CW when they get there hold on to them and we'll pick them up along with our Motor Home. We did and took it to a place in Minn. They fixed it while we waited. Crazy! We thought about the CW in Cedar Falls but had such a bad experience we stayed clear. There were three people in line waiting to talk to the customer service when we were there because they were not happy with the service they were getting or lack of service. I'm glad there are good ones out there because I miss shopping there.

Is there a listing of Thor approved repair centers? I'm also dissatisfied with CW Asheville.

On warranty work, you can use anyone you want, but you have to get Thor's approval FIRST. I bought my coach from MHSRV but my closest dealer is a Jayco/Entega dealer. I have to make an appointment and drive the coach there for an estimate and trouble shooting. I pay the bill and send a copy to Thor Customer Service. Thor sends me the parts with a prepaid return label. I make an appointment at the dealer and take the coach and parts in. I pay the bill. I return the broken parts to Thor along with the second bill. About a month later Thor sends me a check. It works the same with a mobile tech. Get approval FIRST, the call the tech, pay the bill, send the bill to Thor and the check will arrive in about a month. The reason for returning the broken parts is Thor gets credit from the manufacture for the broken parts.

We used the CW in Ft. Myers last month for new installs of washer/vented dryer, satellite dish, and a couple other things. I posted some pricing complaints at the time because they tried charging us around $400 more than some friends who were having the same installs on their Challenger.

Initially when we picked our unit up I felt they had done a good job. Except for leaving our coach full of saw dust and cracking our bathroom full length mirror that is. They said they were ordering our mirror and would replace it. Of course here we are almost a month later and no word from them.

Last week as we began preparing for summer travel I discovered that they had damaged our dinning room table. The tech had either rested the washer or dryer on it while trying to muscle it back into the bathroom area or he had jerked up and down on it trying to get it to stow. Either way he had pulled the brace and 8 bolts right out of the wall. Hard to prove several weeks after the fact so I repaired it myself.

They claimed they ran a test load through the washer but now I am seeing evidence of prior leaking in my convenience compartment, so we are going to have to fire up the gen set and run a couple loads through to see if this thing even drains right without leaking.

So it turns out they were pretty sloppy in their workmanship and even though they admitted to breaking our mirror, which was obvious, they hid the fact they broke our table mount. Now the struggle begins to force them to make good on our mirror replacement like they promised.

Has any one been to LaMesa RV? That is where I bought mine. Had to wait 2 months for an approximant to see the service writer another 3 weeks before they worked on it and the parts were there, Is this a norm as I do most small stuff myself.

Ron has always worked on our rv's himself...seems, nationwide, getting work done at a dealer is a slow process. We have a local RV Specialist ... he is stacked up...but for $100 will make house call !
