My guess is that it probably works in reverse as good as forward. The big thing is: Do they always run it backwards or sometimes backwards, then forwards (because every time you switch directions you're going to get all that crap that was filtered out into the RV and thus might as well not use the filter at all).

Jamie,

That was my thought at first. But the way he had it, with the spring supported end attached directly to the water inlet on the RV, it would be hard to image not noticing the difference switching it around as it would have to stick straight out from the RV at a 90 degree angle...kind of obvious (not to mention comical in a teenage PG13 manner).

Maybe if the filter is installed backwards: it'll put back all of the stuff that they have ever filtered out of any of their water...
Kind of like playing a Country Western song backwards: the fella's wife comes back, his dog comes back to life, and his truck isn't broke anymore!

I can’t believe I never thought about people using the fresh water spout to clean their sewer hose. Gross. [emoji1785] I’m packing extra Clorox wipes in my sewer compartment tomorrow.

Are you talking about the water spigot at the dump site?
I thought that is what that is for, the dumping clean up, and rinsing the 3" dumping hose!

I have seen and this forum supports a very large number of folks actually tee off the fresh water spigot to the in the black water flush

At camp sites over the years almost everyone uses fresh water at the site to flush the tank

Sanitizing the fittings makes sense and as mentioned before don't let your hose ends touch the ground

Chlorine kills layer by layer and is used quite a bit as it is cheap

Peroxide is my choice for all sanitizing inside and out

If you've got one freshwater connection at your site, and you're also hooked up to the sewer: you'll need to get your water from somewhere...
Sterilize everything as best you can, before hooking up to use it as your freshwater supply.
We're pretty used to antiseptic protocols: My Missus is a transplant recipient, with a severely compromised immune system...

While boondocking I had a guy next to me in a travel trailer with a 5000 watt loud ass generator in the back of his pickup. Finally about 10:00pm I hear the generator shut off and I think yahoo a good quiet nights sleep. A few minutes later I hear some rumaging around and see him filling it with fuel. A few minutes later it started and ran all night!
I’m sure glad we were moving on the next day.
I never run my generator after about 9:00-10:00pm.
I’m really enjoying and learning a lot with all of the stories in this thread. And having some good laughs too!

He was probably watching an all-night "Twilight Zone" marathon...
You know the episode: it's the one that you're caught in, and listening to this nit-wit's generator...

I’m talking about the water spigot at the camp site, not the dump site.

It should be run for 30 seconds or so to flush it, then cleaned with a bleach wipe, then rinsed, THEN your white hose can be hooked up.

While at Madras, Or. attending the eclipse, The method of supplying power to each RV/tent/whatever...was interesting to say the least..

Witnessed every method and type of power source...From solar, to on board & stand alone generators (some loud some quiet and some just obnoxious) to "Rube Goldberg" specials.(One guy dropped a water turbine generator into the irrigation canal going past the field we were parked in)

I watched a woman wash a diaper out in a coin water machine about 30 years ago. Since then we have never drank water from a pubic source. We always have bottled water. While in the rv we drink and cook only with water we bring. And at that we sanitize the fresh water tank after every trip.

Same here...my fresh tank is Holy Ground. I fill fresh tank at home or at very reliable sources. We cook with "house water" and drink bottled water only. I only use CG water connections for showers (if it's a city source, not a well) and then shut it off. For hand washing, etc., we use the pump and house water. And, NEVER fill holding tank from a spigot at a dump station. Even though it may say "potable", it lives next door to and exist only to service turds. I never fill tank from a well supplied source at CG's. If I must, I first test the water with a kit that tests for Coliform Bacteria which is very common in wells. If the CG is on "city water" you're much safer than well sources.
