Oil Change needed?

HI, we just bought a new Thor Vegas 25.2 RUV and I've been searching online but cant find any info on when to get the oil change. We bought it new with around 2500 mile on it. Is it every 3000 miles for an oil change?

Follow the owners manual or do it more often if it gives you comfort to do so. Personally, I think 3,000 miles is too soon for any street vehicle. I’m more of a 5,000 miles or once a year guy. If you do it yourself buy a Fumoto valve.

I agree with Pete'sMH. Follow the manual or have it changed annually. Preferably in the fall when you store it for winter, (if you do). Engine oil builds up an acidic property from heat cycling, condensation, unburned fuel & exhaust gases all mixing up a nice cocktail in the oil.

Congratulations and welcome to the site.

I change ours every fall before winter storage but then we don't put more than 5k miles a season on it anyway.

You should have got a black Thor bag with your purchase. In that bag is a Ford owner's manual with a maintenance schedule in the back.

I think Ford recommend 5000 miles and they use a synthetic blend engine oil.

Personally I would change any engine oil around 2000 - 3000 on the first oil change on ANY new vehicle - just seems like the right thing to do to me.

Then once a year or 5000 miles afterwards (even less if you do a lot of towing or mtn runs).

I switched to full Synthetic oil this year but I will still do the once a year/5000 miles (but if I ever do coast to coast trip and its at 7000 miles I would not panic with full synthetic oil - they are good for 15K + miles)

We have a 2016 24.1 Vegas and I’m pretty sure the manual says change every 7500 miles....Wish I could confirm this but I’m 7000 miles away from our rig right now.......

Owners manual should tell you suggested,. At the same time I change ours once a year a year at the beginning of the season. Oil breaks down when not being used to mileage isn’t always the best indicator.

I buy 7 qts of Mobile 1 and a high quality filter, bring to local oil change shop. Total cost around $40-50. Change every 6-7 K.

Started doing this after mile 3000mi. engine break in.

Smile Depends on the engine for me

When I was towing with a gas engine, it was every 5k miles and I drove enough that the calendar was never an issue. When I moved to a diesel at 13 quarts, I went to 7k miles - still drove enough that the calendar didn't matter. Now with the MC and Cummings engine at 17 quarts, we will stick to the 7k miles or yearly, as we don't know how many miles we will do every year. As a do it yourselfer, I save the biggest jugs to put oil in so I can recycle.

Vegas oil change

I have a 2016 Vegas 25.2 on a Ford $450 chassis. All Axis and Vegas models are on an E350 or E450 chassis. As per Ford, the engine requires an oil change every 12,000 km (7500 miles) or every 6 months, whichever comes first. So for most of we are changing oil every 6 months no matter what the mileage. Some time before 2016 Ford also changed the oil recommendation to 5/30 for the Super Duties as compared to the previous 5/20. Had a discussion with the dealership that claimed all the V10s use 5/20 but after checking they agreed it is now 5/30. (it says to use 5/30 in at least 5 different location in the owner's manual. Guess they really wanted to make a point). The oil spec is for semi-blend (which is factory fill) or full synthetic but the oil change interval does not change.
