Car Seat Tether

Our 2017 Windsport has lap belts on the front facing seats, which, assuming they are attached properly would be suitable for a rear facing car seat. We haven't used them yet, and I still have to verify the attachment, but my problem is that our granddaughter is graduating to front facing car seat.

The front facing seats require a tether, which is apparently installed on some newer Thor models, but not on ours. In looking at the Thor videos, it looks like it would require some sort of retrofit of the front facing dinette back, which in my model is installed to the seat box by several screws. Unfortunately the seat box is simple white wood 1x2s, screwed into the floor (not the frame) with door skin sides, which already gives me some hesitancy.

Has anyone found a secure way to install a tether for a front facing car seat on the dinette?

And I have searched the forum and although the question has been raised a few times I haven't really found a very satisfactory solution.

There is no legal/satisfactory solution.
The entire internet has never come up with an all-states legal solution.
Maybe sportsmobile or some company somewhere is authorized.

There are 7 extra seat belts installed in mine.
Lugged through the floor.
They aren't legal.

Attachment to vehicle frame only or you're just fooling yourself.
Still not, legal, but it's built like it is.

I've been involved in a few
anchors where anchors don't go
type Projects.
Right into the frame and 2x2x1/4" washers(corners round so they don't cut the frame if stressed) to boot.

I do not recommend you do this yourself.
Summit Racing had informatiin and parts just for education, not an install by yourself.

The tether is required when using the lower snap attachments to the lower tether hooks - no seatbelts used. Every front facing car seat I have seen/used with the grandkids have a slot through the back of the the seat that seatbelts can be slid through to attach for those vehicles that do not have tether hooks.

Agree with Duck... And if a tether isn't made of substantial solid steel, AND attached directly to the MH steel frame with minimum grade 5 bolts/nuts... what's the point?

I do not believe the rear of the coach, or any of the coach, has been crash tested by the NHTSA. I know for a fact I can’t find any crash test data on my FW24F. As a result, I let no one ride in the coach area while traveling. We use a chase car for the grandkids. It’s an inconvenience but for us a necessary one.
