Hwy 16 between Buffalo and Cody WY??

Has anyone driven a 40' motor home on Hwy 16 between Buffalo and Cody, WY. I am seeing mixed reviews. I think Hwy 14A is definitely out. Thanks

We did Highway 16 westward - beautiful drive!! We did the drive in our Thor Challenger 37TB and a 2013 Explorer toad. Steep slopes - yep, beautiful - beyond description, doable - definitely. Just gotta take your time, make sure that your supplemental toad brake system works and enjoy!

Thanks BigBen. We don't tow, it's just the motor home.

Looks like you have an Aria DP. With your engine brake and no toad, you'll be in even better shape. Take your time and enjoy it. We had 3 grandkids with us and stayed at Buffalo Bill State Park. Loved it. Recommend you make reservations ahead of time.

Be safe and enjoy.

Download "Trucker Path" app & type in to/from locations & if highlighted it's doable for trucks so you should have no problems. In the app you can add fuel stops, clearances, rest stops, even Wal-Mart's.

We did Route 16 eastbound in a 32' class A gasser in September 2016. It was a lovely trip. Our Ford automatic had only D, 4, 2 and 1 as choices, so we did the major descents (well marked by serious signage) quite slowly in "2" with no problems. Now with an Aria, with exhaust brake and Allison 3000 tranny, I think it would be cake. BTY, we stopped at the rest area at the top of the last major descent, just west of Buffalo -- the signs say you have to -- and we had a great time chatting with all the others there. It was like a party. Fantastic trip. Can't wait to get back.

We took 16 from Cody to Buffalo on our way to the Black Hills. I was driving a 2013 RAM 2500 diesel and internal exhaust brake pulling a 27' TT, but no problem. It is a pretty steep and winding road, but as others have said, take your time. It's definitely worth taking it slow, and take some pictures. It is one of the Scenic Byways for a reason.
