Chateau 31 2014

I finally figured out how to post a question on the iPad. I just noticed today how hot the fuse on our living room TV is. The bedroom doesn't have one. Just plugs in like normal. The guy at Camping World said it could be warm but not hot. The wires are warm too. It has the correct fuse in it. 7.5amp, the casing around the fuse says 8 amp. Any ideas? We don't need a fire. We've been using the TV for three weekends and now in Florida for two months. We just bought this unit in April of 2014. We love it by the way just not the hot fuse. Thank you.

Is this an inline fuse or is it in the TV itself?

It's an external line fuse. The TV doesn't have an an actual plug to an outlet, just the fuse. The TV in the back bedroom is a normal plug in one.

I expect this is a 12 volt TV. I have no experience with 12 volt TV but doesn't seem like fuse would be hot unless there was a bad connection in the fuse holder.

mine is the same way
it's an inline old style automotive type tube fuse
and yes it gets very hot.
I thought I had a picture of it, but can't put my fingers on it at the moment.

When we first got it and I noticed how hot it was, I had also noticed that sometime along the way those little tiny wires had been pinched in the swinging mount along the way. Eventually, that TV died and the dealer replaced it under warranty and when they replaced it they upgraded the wire a bit to a larger gauge. It's still small and still gets hot, but it functions well and hasn't so far been a problem.

The same thing with the swing arm pinched ours and we had exposed wires. I taped it up but The fuse housing getting hot bothered me so we went to the autimotive store and I replaced the tube fuse with a flat fuse adapter and butt connections.(Someone suggested it). It was easy, cut, connect, pinch and done. It is a little warm but not hot anymore. We feel safer now.
