City water switch over

When you change over to city water are there valves that have to be turned? As usual the manual was no help.i have a 2011 Thor windsport 31d. Thanks Tux

Just turn the pump off. Is something not working when you hook up.to city water?

Some RVs are plumbed that way. If so you will either have a single multi-position valve handle (anderson valve) in the wet bay with marked functions;

Or you will have multiple open/close valves in the wet bay board with instructions on how to direct flow.

Otherwise, MOST RVs you just have to connect City Water to the marked inlet and turn it on.

The plumbing behind that panel must be a plumber's nightmare. It seems overly complex to me. All that is really needed is a simple three-way valve to control whether the city water connection will fill the tank.

But that panel does a whole lot more than just redirect the city water inlet.

I know on our 2016 Outlaw, class C, when connected to city water, I need to shut the onboard water tank supply line to the system to the off position.
If I don't, the water bleeds by to said tank and it over fills it. It is easier for me to just turn that valve off, than to reach in there, pulling things apart, to find out why the back flow check valve does, or doesn't have a piece of debris lodged in it.
The K-I-S-S principle.

That's a work-around for an abnormal condition. It's not normal operation.

But...a great option to fix the issue and fill the fresh tank when you need to, as long as you don't have to disassemble half the coach to get to that valve.

Here is my wet bay mod to allow filling the tank while connected to city water.

This shows the three states of the valve settings.

I also added a second city connection inside the large "Trunk" space in my ACE 30.3 so I could have a Filter and a softener.
