Leveling pads

I have a ACE 30 foot class A. I occassionally see someone using leveling pads instead of the auto levelers. Is there some advantage? Am I missing something?

I use leveling pads under my wheels when leveling by the jacks would lift the tires off of the ground. Especially the rears. The tires provide a LOT of stability to the parked rig. If I use blocks under the wheels I’ll also put them under the jacks so the jacks don’t have to extend so much.

I think what you are seeing is discussion about adding levelers to coaches that don't have them as standard equipment. Lots of folks get by just fine using leveling pads, and some of us add an aftermarket leveling system. There's a running thread about that right now.

If you have auto levelers, the only use you will have for the pads is under the levelers or as Pete just mentioned, to keep the wheels from being unsupported when the levelers raise the wheels off the ground.

Sure! Leveling pads offer a great form of exercise!

Me too Bob! So far the LCI autolevel works fine for me!

If you are referring to driving your rig up on blocks of some sort to level, instead of using the leveling jacks that makes no sense. I carry the yellow squares and use them between the jack pad and ground if I feel that a larger foot print is needed. You do not want the jack pad to sink into the ground. I will also use the yellow squares to place under to tires if the jacks raise them up. I do not like the tires off the ground.
