Converter electrical smell

2016 ACE. Started my generator and have elect smell from the converter. Any ideas what causes that? Hooked up a small 2000k gen and smell goes away. No circuits are dead. Everything still seems to work.

Are you talking about the converter in the power distribution panel (battery charger/maintainer) or the invertor (12 v to 120v)?

That one operates in both shore and gen power. You say it's ok on shore power. My question would be was the store, use in use position? If it is ok on shore then the gen is doing something weird and I would definetly sneak up to it carefully.

Things I would check,

Gen voltage output. (Turn ac breakers off in case voltage is high)
Transfer switch wiring from gen to switch
Make sure converter is not blown by checking bat voltage output (disconnect bat to see correct reading. When on shore power

Let us know what you find.

On a small 2000k inverter gen, batteries are charging at 13.46. Everything seems ok. I'm set up st a NASCAR track till Monday. I just won't turn the onboard gen on again till I get home. As long as the little WEN keeps the batteries charged i will survive. Got nervous with the smell. Don't want a fire. Looked up the converter- may just change it out over the winter. Appreciate the quick response
