The wife and I are in the age bracket where a bathroom is a necessity and not a luxury. And don't have anything in the way when we need TO GO.

It can be a necessity regardless of age. 4 years ago; I gave a Yamaha Dealer nuts because I refused to buy a $78,000 boat because it did not have a porti pottie. One day they had magically installed one. If I am on the lake and I have to go, I have to go. It is easier for me to pull over in the SUV (or RV) to use a restroom than when on a lake, but I do find the RV restroom as a very nice to have luxury when I have to go. Unless I am winterize, I never go inside any of the gas stations, and we tend to stop at the actual rest stops more to get in and out very fast with little traffic.

That can be dangerous, 1st night it gets cold; and they run the engine for heat, they are at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Same can be for the inverse if it gets too hot and need for AC.

Just take a simple tent if you plan to go camping, otherwise if you just traveling, just go get a room. It is not that complicated.

I agree that we are spoiled. I struggle to think of any trip without the RV. To us it is just an oversized SUV that gets very bad gas mileage, but it is like we are at home while on the road.

I like having the comforts of home on the road. Wait till she hits a cold front and see how nice it is inside her car sleeping. You can't always go outside and set up your coleman camp camp stove to cook when it is raining.

There are tons and tons of youtube channels of people of various ages travelling across the US in all manner of vehicles. (I believe I saw one of a guy on a bike.)

Quite a few of them post with the tag #vanlife.

When I was 21 me and a buddy went from New Orleans to Daytona via the coast. Had a semi customized ‘77 Dodge van. Slept in it. Slept on the beach. Partied anywhere. Showered at the head on the beach outside the motel pools. Got run out of parking lots at night many times. But………….. I feel I’ve outgrown that. . I’ll just imagine my wife is the cheerleader. And I don’t have to imagine 3 miniature schnauzers.

You got the picture. Something very UNreal about it. Ex Jets cheerleader, Bachelor contestant, first runner up for Miss Connecticut, lives in a car, sleeps on backwoods roads, walks off into the woods with two stangers...

Click bait? Something doesn't add up.

The mental midgetry of pretty women knows no bounds.
Cut the pill in half, or double up, something isn't working.

I have a queen sized bed setup in my two-door blazer expeditionary vehicle(think Mann truck but tiny)
Anyone saying it's anything but miserable and a compromise to meet their inability to see straight...isn't seeing straight.

My silliness is vehicle size related.
It has to do with a specific function down 48" tread width roads untravelled in 100 years.
Otherwise I'd call it a mental deficiency.

I hope they are happy with what they are doing (seem to for sure) as long as they leave nature like they found it. Biggest issue with the "van dwellers" is the trash they leave behind as a result of not having proper disposal facilities..garbage and human waste. We just took the coach across town for a Christmas Parade...nice having the fridge and toilet with you. Got there early, had a few snacks and cocktails... we and Bugsie had a great time. There was a "traveling van" parked near us who seemed to fit in this category of lifestyle. After they left I found a pile of drink cans, scattered trash and a neatly folded up dirty diaper they left on the ground behind their van where they were backed up against a fence. Not an uncommon practice among van dwellers and car live-ins.

You have earned it. I slept on dirt, sand, mud for years with the military, Search and Rescue and Mountain Rescue. I could do it again but why? A solo 30 something is one thing. A couple with dogs, kids, and or grandkids is another.

Looks like click bait to me. They generate revenue every time someone starts their U-tube video.

I guess that style of camping/RVing is OK when you are young. I had my share of roughing it while being deployed in Iraq twice, it was OK because I was younger.

Now we are retired and like our creature comforts and can afford it. Are we spoiled?.....I installed a satellite system in our RV so my wife can watch Lifetime Movie Network and I can watch the Motortrend channel. Having a functioning bathroom in the middle of the night is also a bonus at our age.
