Cruise/Speed Control drops out
While on a trip, I was using the cruise control and when I'm going up a hill, the engine will rev-up, but then the speed control cuts out. First time it happened it scared the crap out of me...I thought something had happened to the engine
Why does it cut out?

It’ll do that if the speed drops much below the set speed. It’s normal.

Mine used to do that. What I found was the way I was holding the steering wheel my thumb would rest on the off switch. Random bumps would cause me to turn it off.

While doing 75 mph across the desert in high winds? Might have been the AI telling the coach, “I don’t like to go this fast!”

Maybe the Transmission down shifting for the hill will cut the Cruse control off .

Could also be transmission temp for to hot, and that’s would give out the cruise in a attempt to cool the transmission down, if it only does that when climbing hills.

Most of the time it will downshift on a hill when cruise is on, but there are times that the hill is too steep, and it will just cut out.

It happened to us too. 4 or 5 times during the first 5000miles driven. Brand new rig. Our first long trip on highways. No hills, no accidental hands on the controls, no shifting transmission. Just sudden shut off of the cruise control while going steady at 60mph. Two alerts coming up at the same time: "Active Distance Assist Inoperative" and "Active Breaking Assist Function Limited". Brought to Mercedes garage. They adjusted the leveling of the front sensors that apparently were triggering the breaking assist failure causing the shutting off the cruise control. It hasn't happened since, however we haven't taken yet another long trip. We will post again if it happens again...

While continuing on our trip, something that seemed weird to me...Here I am going 50mph trying to pass a big rig, and I have the gas pedal down to the floor...and it wouldn't down shift.
Then later (which happened more than once)...I'm going 65 either going over a hill or trying to pass a vehicle, and I step on it, and it down shifts and takes off. I don't get it.
