One of our stops a few years ago was the RV Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart IN . It was absolutely amazing at the collection of RVs they had from over the years. One of my favorites was a 70s vintage Winnebago complete with shag carpet. I was amazed at how far we have come in what we monitor - no need for humidity these days.

I'm not sure they are open during Covid, but I haven't been through Amarillo in quite some time. However, there is an RV museum at the Jack Sisemore RV lot in Amarillo. One has to go into the dealership and ask for the museum.
Below is a link to photos that I took there some years ago.

DITTO - very nice pictures.
flytecamp.com is interesting. There was a show on the tube where they ran around collecting vintage campers and restored them. Haven't seen it around in a long time but don't watch tube that much anymore.
It's somewhat strange to see just how old this lifestyle really is.

I toured that museum during a factory tour and warranty work trip in 2018. It would pay if the current "engineers" of today's RV construction would spend a little time there studying the quality of how it used to be. My favorite was the GMC coach. We had one when I was a kid...I don't remember my dad ever having any issues with it...other than the ability to pass a single gas station. It's a must-do if you're ever in the Elkhart area. A factory tour of the plant your specific coach was built in is also priceless...it gives you an opportunity to see how it was built and where everything is hidden behind all the walls, windows and front cap...that go on last.

When I was a kid, most of our camping was with tents. However, my parents did buy a camper that was different from anything I've seen since. It was a short box-like camper with a hinge that allowed the top to "flip over" and become the floor and then a canvas cover was raised to complete the "conversion."
Think of a cigar box cut from top on one side and angling down to the bottom of the other side. The hinge was at the bottom as mentioned above. With the camper opened and the "tent" raised, the "bottom part" of the camper was the bed area.
I think it was called something like "Kwik-Kamp," and I've never been able to find an image of one anywhere.
