dealerships you are actually happy with

as my username suggests we are in the process of looking for a Thor Rv. reading all the posts there seems to be many more BAD dealerships than good. Please let me know of dealerships names and location you are very happy with them AND their service departments. My wife and I would drive or fly any where to buy our RV from a good dealership we could count on with the many problems that are sure to occur.

With you being in IL you should just pick up the coach from the dealer "across the street" from the factory: Total Value RV | Indiana's #1 Class A Motorhome Dealer | Campers and Trailers For Sale | Elkhart, IN near Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, South Bend, Evansville, Carmel, IN, and Chicago, IL
That wouldn't be that far of a drive for you, and your brand new coach will come with only a handful of miles on it.

In addition, that also makes you close enough to the factory to simply use the factory service--better than any dealer.

TRI County RV If you are in central Illinois this is the place. Small dealer for motorhomes only but great people and great service.

General RV

You are so close to General RV in Huntley Illinois about 40 minutes from you. They gave me a better price than I ever saw after 3 months of looking, dealing and haggling. Across the entire country. I was willing to fly out to pick up the right coach at the right price. But I didn't have to they hooked me up on price. After browsing many blogs they seem to have a decent service reputation as well.

General RV Center | Nation's Largest Family Owned RV Dealer

Best sales guy I ever dealt with I did so over the phone. Call this guy he reps Thor products you can pick up at any of General RV's 11 locations, including Huntley, Il. He is not even in that store or the one I bought from and he is still the best. Tell him Bill from Saint John sent you.

Any RV service department is only going to be as good as the Tech's that work there. Then there is the issue of overscheduling the Tech's. The dealer I have been dealing with, though it takes way too long to get in for service, does try. One problem is the department will always give priority to coaches that have been sold and need to be delivered. That is just the nature of the business. I have been dealing with a large dealership, but I only deal with two people, the service manager, and the tech that has and will work on my coach. Though I still have to wait too long to get it in, once there, things do get done.

We made appointments, thry kept the appointments. They did the work in a timely fashion.

MHSRV.com in Alvarado, TX
[Motorhome Specialists]

traded/purchased from them twice - easy, nice rv ports for post purchase inspection and several days with full hookups to move your stuff and get used to your 'new' home... simple dealership that allows you to just walk around and view all the RVs you'd like, no pressure - and the best website, with videos, pictures, and information in the business...

we don't use them for service, though, we leave warranty work for the factory service center in Wakarusa, IN(ThorMotorCoach products), and have rarely used anyone else other than once at a CampingWorld for a slide motor replacement, though I was scheduled in to TotalValueRV, ElkhartIN by Thor Customer Service since they were booked up at the service center - not a good idea, the service center later had to 'fix' half of the items this 'preferred' service dealer had supposedly taken care of, and this dealer is only 20 miles from the factory!

Your dealership experience is almost always great do your research MHSRV.com for price you should ask them to match and don't be afraid to stand your ground expect a lot and they will work with you. Now once you've bought it...expect a crap shoot with you coming out on the short end when it comes to service most of the time...the guys are just overworked and warranty work is a pain so it will get done but probably painful and time consuming

I highly recommend Total Value RV. Our purchase experience was so much better there. One example: Delivery charge. Elkhart to Grand Rapids MI. $850.00. TVRV, $0.
I have had some issues with my Axis, but I believe that they have bent over backwards to accommodate us. Our coach is going back to the factory but not before I feel they worked really hard to fix the problem.

If you are buying outright then General RV has good prices but their trade-in values are way below market value.

Total RV may save you some miles but if you need service then you're running back and forth to get it done. Your local dealer will likely shun you for buying out of market/out of state.

Don't count on factory service as they are incredibly busy right now with all the substandard product they produced this year. It's possible they will schedule at a small town dealer that is an authorized warranty facility with little or no backup in their service department. I live local and they scheduled my service through Pauls RV Service in Wakarusa (who by the way does incredible work if you ever need service or repairs-tell them leaky water tank sent you-they'll know who you are talking about.)

Tri-County RV located near Peoria, Illinois is outstanding. They are family owned with great service. I bought my Axis 24.1 a year ago and couldn't be happier. They thoroughly go over the RV before delivery. They are easy to schedule with and always helpful on the phone.

Anywhere besides a camping world. Have been to 3 different ones with the same results from Arkansas to Missouri. I purchased in the KC MO one because that's the only place that had what I was looking for and that I could actually talk to. Service is just as bad if not worse after the sale as I couldn't even get them to talk about scheduling. Steer clear of CW.
As mentioned above, I also have had very good luck purchasing from mhsrv. Great place

got my 2016 axis from Total RV in Elkhart IN. 185 miles from where i live. it had 34 miles on it. next day Total paid to have front end alignment done at central Illinois truck in Normal IL. have 3 dealers within 50 miles of me that wouldn't work on MH because i didn't buy it from then so Thor had me take it to
Cummins Crosspoint a few miles from my house. half large truck dealer and half large MH service center.during my 12 month warranty it went there 4 times with electrical problems and were fixed within 1 week as far as Thor dealers i got lucky and never had to use them.

Motorhome Specialist RV is the best of the best. Located in Alvarado, Texas, MHSRV will even pick you up from the D/FW Intl Airport. They offer no pressure sales, fantastic service department and excellent customer supprt!!

MHSRV is a good dealership with excellent pricing. The service department has improved over the last few years. Another dealership we had very going luck with on 3 towables is located in Sweetwater Texas, Family RV. Good folks, prices and a small but good service department.

Much to my surprise, the service and knowledge at the Camping World in Statesville, NC was great. Unlike my experience at the CW in Harrisburg, PA. Although CW has a "not so great" reputation, as with my experience in Statesville, there are probably some out there that are not so bad. Best bet is to check out reviews on-line. The local RV dealers near me in PA are good but they refuse to work on my unit since I did not buy it from them which would have cost me at least $20K more to stay local.

We drove the toad from Central VA to buy our ordered 2018 Hurricane. Took delivery today and couldn't be happier. Total RV tests all of the RV systems before delivery. We found a few minor fit and finish items that they will address with Thor while we are in town for the week. Staying at their w&e sites while they work on the coach and we see the sights around Elkhart.
