Dipstick problem on 2021 Vegas with new V8
Hey somebody help me find the dipstick on my 2021 25.6 Vegas motorhome. It appears that Thor put the fresh air intake hoses over it making it impossible to even see, much less check the oil level.

I have noticed on the last 3 or 4 new vehicle I have purchased that the oil dipstick is getting harder and harder to get at. It makes me think people don't check the oil anymore so automakers are moving that dipstick to the back burner. My little Nissan Frontier doesn't even have a dipstick for the transmission.

I checked the oil level today on my 2021 Axis 24.18 with the new V8. The dipstick is on the left side looking aft and behind two 2-1/2" hoses. You have to crouch underneath the hood and then poke your head up until it is level with the dipstick. You can just barely see it.
Checking is all by feel. Work your left hand in and around the hoses until you feel the pull tab and the round tube that it fits in. Then pull it out, and pull, and pull. It is almost exactly 5' long. Yes, five f*&% feet. Then wipe it off, push it back down, pull it back out and check the oil level. Don't even think about asking your friendly gas pump jockey to do it, unless you slip him a ten spot.
The filler port is almost exactly opposite on the right side. There is a flat tab that you turn to release it. You will need a funnel, a long hose and a helper to add oil. Or maybe an oil pump kit.
Thor did not make it easy. Oh and i just read about changing the air filter. S#$%, five hours trying to get the housing back together. I don't even know where the air filter is and I don't really want to know. Maybe I will sell the Axis before it is time to change it out.
With this much hassle, I am certainly not going to check the oil before every trip. Maybe at 5,000 miles and again just before changing the oil. And it won't be me changing it.

Unfortunately true.
A few years ago 1 of the German manufactures was ready to seal their hoods
But before they could one of their suppliers started shipping bad pistons
In 2020 a Korean manufacture shipped the 2.0 motors in at least 1 model with defective PCV valves, sucks ALL the oil out in a few K miles

Wow! That’s pretty amazing. It’d have to be really, really hard to do before I’d stop checking before trips though!

Don't complain until you have tried it. It really is that hard to do.
