Draining the Black Water

Okay, folks, here is my new question: We have a Thor 23TR. We can't drain the "black water" tank !
The sales person showed us how to do it, but there were no contents in the tank at that time. Now, when we want to drain it, the durn thing won't. When we hook up the pipe, the pipe goes down and then up. Water flows only down hill. The drain pipe won't fit through the hole they put in the floor of the unit below the pipe openings. How do they expect us to accomplish the dump ? Here we are with a unit that has 1/2 full stuff.

Uh-oh...

Isn't your outlet pipe capable of being rotated around a bit, so that it will line up with the opening?

Good luck!

Repeat of a story I have told previously on another Thor forum:
Campground in Evanston, WY--two nice ladies with absolutely new Thor C coach--drain line at left rear corner inside compartment was aimed sideways. Connecting the sewer line to the fitting would require the hose to go up to get over the edge of the compartment. Solution by forum answers was "the drain line will rotate downward to empty out below the compartment thru the opening provided. Line is hard to rotate, but will loosen with use."
I would not dare to try to rotate it for the ladies, as I did not want to cause a leak if it backfired on me.
So---if the drain line is between the valves and pointing outward/horizontal, and there is a hole in the compartment floor, it is supposed to be rotated downward.
Some excellent Thor design/installation....

His may be like mine..the hole in bottom of the bay doesn't line up with the valve outlet. I just run the hose over the lower edge of the bay and evacuate tanks with hose end horizontal to ground. I don't care to cut another hole in bay floor. I never leave hose hooked up so this doesn't cause an issue. I only hook up hose when actively dumping, then put it away. Always make sure your tanks get mostly full before dumping.

Yep, Thor isn't very good at figuring out where the hole should be.

Ted...don't wanna take the thread on a dirt road but PM me with your experience/opinion with the Sonic...this is on my short list for a toad if I go that route. First option is to pull a trailer with a small car, allowing more room for generator, extra fuel, ladder, other items. Seems there's a lot of drama configuring cars for towing. You can call also at 678-428-1684 or email, rsogllc@aol.com. Don

In last thirty some years I’ve owned three different motor homes with that problem. I just run hose out door. I seldom leave sewer hose connected because park maintenance folks don’t care what they cut

If I understand you correctly you're saying there isn't room to connect the hose to the tank outlet, right? Mine wouldn't either. I solved the problem with a clear extension and a clear 45 degree angle. That got me thru the hole, then I had room to attach the hose to the 45.

Thor Vegas 2017 sewer connection

I saw on the Thor video on this thread that you can rotate the sewer pipe so you can attach your sewer hose through the round access hole straight down. I tried and mine didn't seem to rotate. Is it just hard to do or does mine not do it? I don't want to force it. Otherwise I will have to run the hose through the door. I appreciate any input. Also how long should water stay hot in the water heater when it is turned off? Thanks, again.

Per my answer on your other post, be firm and push or pull it as needed

Hot water in the heater depends on the ambient temperature and the hot water temperature to begin with, however typically several hours
