Drawer problem

Hi all,
We're on our first big road trip, and noticing little things here and there. Maybe one or two of you can help with the newest little problem. Two of our drawers suddenly won't close all the way. They don't see to have anything in the way, but we aren't getting the final lock when we push drawers fully when we prepare to travel. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Grace

Look at the bottom of the drawers; they probably use these type of latches:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sometimes the moving part gets stuck in the "in" position and needs to be popped out by a screwdriver but these are cheap latches and most likely the moving side of the latch may have broken.

If you call Thor customer service or you can email them from the website and when I explained the problem I was having with the grabber latches they sent me a bag of 15 free of charge. I had gone through 4 of them and was buying them at $20 a piece. I also had no success to pop them open and usually broke them while trying.

We had a drawer catch break and prevent full closure. Went to Camping world, bought a new one and a spare and replaced the "female" side and all is well.

As others have said probably a broken drawer latch. Try Thor or match the style you have on Amazon and buy a stock of replacements. According to Murphy's Law, if you buy an ample supply of replacement latches no more will break.

Drawer problem

I fixed mine by removing it.... they would open and close. When I check them out...they where not aligned and off by at least 3/4”. I replaced the plastic latch with a old-school type magnetic kitchen cabinet door holder... you can get them at Lowes or Home Depot… For a few dollars. No problems since the replacement with magnetic latch
Thanks Bradley

Thanks - this is exactly what has happened. I'm not impressed with the design (the spring had turned sideways) so will probably replace them with a better one. One of the other campers where we're staying in south Texas was able to figure out the problem.

Appreciate the input!
Grace

After breaking one latch prying with a screwdriver, I bought a crochet hook that grabs that little thingee allowing me to easily pull it into the “out” position.

I broke several of them also. I think they break on bumps in the road etc. a four pack is ten dollars at amazon. You get them the next day with prime. Super easy fix. Just two screws

They will break when someone tries to slam the door closed after the latch has already closed due to very slight misalignment. If you already have a needlle nose plier, it works well to open the latch from the underside with the drawer open. We have found that placing side tension on the drawer AWAY from the side that the catch is on while closing will prevent this from happening.

We have the same issue with ours. There is a plastic mechanism under the drawer front. A little hook on the drawer itself fits into that catch and is supposed to hold it. Our top drawer has failed. We have tried to pull the connection on the farm back out again, to no avail. The next step will be to spray it with contact cleaner. Here they are.1. Affixed to frame 2. Affixed to drawer.

Karenfleck,

The latch appears closed. It is stiff and resistant to being opened easily. Use a needle nose plier inserted into the small opening to grab the end of the latch and swing outward to open.

I removed all those crap latches and crap slides. Replaced with soft close slide and it is now a pleasure to use. Just almost close it and it closes by itself. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just contacted Thor because so far each time one has broken, the dealer has covered and fixed under warranty. My issue is that it is an hour's drive each way to dealer and it takes them less than an hour to fix it. It would be nice to have some extras on hand here and "maybe" my husband can learn to replace them.

Do you have a link to the soft close slides you used? I might look into those instead of trying to keep some extra latches on hand to use when a "broken" one needs replacing.

Sorry, what do I "measure"? Do you take the old latch out and measure it or is there something on the drawer that I measure? So far (fingers crossed) the latches seem to be holding right now but if more break in the future I may have to do something.

Oh. The drawer opening edge to the current back mount. Not the drawer.
