Driver & Passenger Seats

The driver and passenger captains chairs are disintegrating right before our eyes. The “pleather” is separating from the fabric something awful. Looks like they got attacked by a big cat and we don’t even have cats. Never had a pet in the unit!
2016 Thor Hurricane 35c. Wouldn’t think the seats would be this poor quality.
What can we do?

Known issue across the industry...the "pleather" was garbage for a few years. Get them recovered or replace.

Thank you. Really sucks. New Captains chairs are expensive. Recovering ain’t cheap either.

Shop4seats has a showroom in Texas. Take a road trip.

Fairly good looking seat covers are available from Camping World. If you travel with two Abby cats, claws intact, seat covers and upholstery covers are a necessity. I put then on the second day leaving MHSRV so I don't know or care of the captain's chairs are pealing.

Mine are the same. Local quote for recovering was almost $900.00/chair! I almost chocked!

Purchased $89.00/each seat covers on Amazon. Seat covers fit great- armrests suck ass.

Against who? The Chinese fabric supplier? The chair manufacturer? The multiple RV manufacturers (yes, it's not just a Thor issue)?

Just throw a hook in the water and see what bites...

You can put cheap sear covers on but that’s what you’ll have, cheap seat covers over disintegrating fabric. If you’re planning to keep the coach for a while, do what ACE suggests. Take a road trip, go to shop4seats showroom. Pick out a couple new front seats. Replace the crappy jackknife sofa with a couple of reclining seats. You’ll be much happier in the long run. I’ll bet they’ll even install them. We did just this and it’s a game changer.

I was looking at a you tube video where they ordered direct fit replacement material and did the recover themselves, this seemed like a good option if you are so inclined to do the task. My 2014 ACE has the same peeling issue.

we got direct replacement covers a few years back, changed color and QUALITY of the nagahyde stuff
its substantially thicker and tougher feeling
but it was 1200 for both seats.
ours started peeling within 2 years, it was horrible and at the time thor was not helping
we removed and replaced the covers ourselves, hardest part was getting them off the heavy lower frames and then we set up tables on the porch to do the project
flexsteel made them for us.

Whatever floats your boat. For $1500 you can buy new seats and all.

We just finished our second trip with the new Shop4seats captains chairs and I can assure you that if you plan on keeping your RV for awhile it's well worth the money. They are a direct bolt on conversion so installation is simple.

We make the same trip, approximately 500 miles each way, several times a year and that's about the limit on my daily driving allowance. With the new seats I may be able stretch that a little more if I need to, there is no comparison in the comfort. The stock seats in my opinion were just damned uncomfortable so seat covers is kind of like the old adage "putting lipstick on a pig."

Our only problem was the lead time on our order was 5 months, we did get the heat and massage option so that may have been the reason.

I may do the same.

Did the same thing on my 2015 Axis. Replaced the seats and garbage sofa bed with 2 power recliners from Shop4Seats. The best upgrade I have done. I can make 600 mile daily trips without any issues. Seats are excellent quality, and the coach looks like new.
