Satellite Antenna Purchase

Everyone on this site has been so helpful during the "learning curve". Thanks so much! We're contemplating buying an automatic satellite antenna for our Hurricane 34F. We are looking into the King Relay auto sat. Antenna and Wally receiver. We would love some feedback. We really don't want to have to deal with finding a signal. Again thanks for your help...

we don't have the typical roof mounted fully automatic type, but use the more portable automatic King Tailgater2. I did provide a mount near the rear of the roof at the ladder for easy access, and to carry the antenna when traveling, but it is totally portable and can be moved anywhere on the roof, or down to the ground if needed...

Thanks Turner Family. See you live in Georgia. We love the Georgia mountains. Would love some ideas of nice RV parks with full hookups. We have a trip in October to Pine Mountain. Going blind on this one. Any suggestions of your favorites gladly welcomed

We are contemplating purchasing a satellite antenna for our recently purchased Challenger. On our last two 5th wheels we had Winegard Travler auto dishes installed on the roof. They worked extremely well for Direct-TV HD. With professional install the whole thing can run anywhere from $1,600 to over $2,000, depending on where your TV's are located (in slides) and how many you have.

This time we are leaning toward some type of roof mounted dome model that can be switched between Direct-TV and Dish. Even if we can only get a SD signal for Direct-TV we would prefer to have a dome style this time mainly due to less cost.

During our full time travels we never had a campground where we could not get a signal with a permanent mounted roof top dish. We aren't leaning toward any type of automatic carry out style because of theft issues.

Good luck with your search and decision, there are many possibilities out there.

We love the north Georgia mountains too but don't get up there often enough. Roosevelt SP in Pine Mountain is pretty nice but not full hookup. We've stayed there several times and like it. If this is where you'll be staying in October, I would recommend the lower camping area away from the lake. Campsites aren't as tight and much larger sites.

Pine Mountain is a nice little town. Hope you enjoy your trip/stay.

If you to watch TV while driving, the automagic antennas are better. If you plan on being in the trees, then the movable antenna is better. When you are parked in trees you can carry the portable antenna to a clear space that has a "view" over Houston.

well.... we are REALLY in the N GA mountains, Hiawassee area to be exact, just a few miles from NorthCarolina border. Many RV sites, parks, campgrounds, and private land available for coaches - in most of this area there are NO restrictions to parking RVs - SO MANY along the roadways around LakeChatuge(Hiawassee river).

Pine Mountain is definately NOT the GA mountains - but the Callaway Gardens area is beautiful, especially at the THOR DIESEL RALLY last year at the Callaway Gardens RV Resort - pretty nice.
Here is our PALAZZO, while there, shown in a recently Online Wifi Article, sweet.
