Fresh water tank strainer

I've had issues with water flow using the fresh water tank as the supply. Been to the dealer multiple times and they say everything is ok. I finally took a good look at the plumbing and the water strainer is installed backwards - flow arrow points to the tank and not the pump. Could this cause low flow and sputtering at the faucet (don't go there)? I'll need to reverse all of the fittings to the tank and pump to get it in correctly.

Yes and there might be a check valve there that is installed backward

It is one of those ShurFlo wire mesh strainers - no check valve. If it was a pressurized system I don’t think orientation would matter but since it is a vacuum system it probably does. Time to do some plumbing.
