EZ Read Tire Caps From The Hershey RV Show

The next item is not only cool but keeps you safe.

A tire monitor called EZ Read Tire Caps, visually alerts you when tire pressure is low. EZ Read Tire Pressure is worth the price and piece of mind. They cost less than $30. Now, no more bending to check tire pressure.

We stopped at the EZ Read Tire Caps booth and spoke with Kelly. It didn’t take long for us to realize how EZ and convenient this product is. We put them on the 6 tires of our RV in just a few minutes and never have to bend down to check tire pressure again

Sooo, no TPMS?

Those type of caps have been out for at least a decade. Some are not UV happy and only last a year or so.

And not going to help with inside duals with standard stems.

I'll stick with TPMS, where I can see the pressure from the comfort of my cab ;-)

That's what they're hoping.... These have been around since the 70's if I recall, about time the idea get 'rebooted' I suppose.

You get get a set of 4 for under $2 on aliexpress..

Maybe these folks have designed a better version, or maybe just rebranded the $2 item.. time will tell.

Not a substitute for a good TPMS.

Not even a lousy sales pitch.

I have seen these before and thought of using them. I have no TPMS on my coach and do not plan to ever have one. I check the tires before every trip and at all fuel stops, just like checking oil and fluids in the engine bay. It is just part of my routine. I have always been frustrated with the TPMSs on my cars and light trucks. We have a lot of temperature fluctuations in our winters here in Texas and the damned light is always on in the winter. I'm not about to add another item of frustration to my coach.

60 different types on Amazon.
Some actually have LEDs that blink when the pressure is low. Most are in the 32 to 44 psi range, so shop carefully. Quick Pressure has them from 25 psi to 130 psi and most pressures are available in the flow through design.

Still have a few left in the tire supply parts bins

They were handy back in the 70, 80, 90 era prior to OEM sensors

We used 44, 80, 110 on cars, LT trucks and F550 pickups. Only on the steering axles on the dually pickups.

Type we used had red, yellow, green bands so at a glance on the walk around you knew before the 23 mile drive home or to town from the ranch

Interesting and old memories

Can't see them while driving down the road, which is when one really wants to know about a change in pressure. I think I'll stick with TPMS.

On a golf cart, they work just as well as a very expensive remote TPMS. These day we seem to put more miles on the golf cart than on the cars.

I should put them on mine, had a low tire awhile back and it would be handy

Thanks for reminding me, will have to order some lower pressure caps

Just looked them up and the same style we had 40 years ago are still available, so ordered them for the golf cart

Glad you posted that Beau

I think they are a great alternative to a TPMS for any vehicle

Worked well for us for many years

Just ordered a set for my Golf cart as well

Exclamation Pass

They have reviews of this brand on Amazon, some said tires deflated with these installed, could be dangerous if happens while driving.
I will stick with my routine pre / mid trip checks and a solid tire valve cap.

It happens because of faulty installations. There is a small rubber O ring inside the cap, that makes the seal. Put them on too loose and they leak. Put then on too tight and part of the O ring squeezes inside the lip causing a leak. You put them on snug and spray the stem with soapy water. If no bubbles, there is no leak. By the way the leaks are usually big enough you can hear them and usually the tire will be completely flat within an hour. I used them on my RVs in the 80s and 90s and found them to be trouble free. I did find several in the packages that leaked when first installed. I just took the back to the auto parts store and they replaced them. I have has four on my golf cart for 4 years and they work fine. The biggest problem is they only work for one pressure. If you change tire sizes or rim.s or tires you have to buy new caps.
