Final Vegas 7 year Report
After 7 years, we have bought a bigger class C to accomodate our enlarged family (runt of litter 65 lbs).
I figured I would comment on the overall experience with our 2016 e450 based Vegas 24.1. I would rate the overall performance as excellent. There are a lot of concerns posted, I cannot say anything bad at all. Many, many trips and 48,000 miles later we hate to see it go. From towing drag car to visiting family, going to Disney and using as mobil hotel room it has never let uus down. I would rate it A+.
Unit has never been back to dealer and I have been able to do all repairs and adjustments myself.
Unit still smells same as it did when new. Dealer gave me a very good trade allowance.
I want to thank the forum/members for the help with tech topics, general discussion and entrtainment. It has been fun.
Thanks to all.

What is your new "ride"? What are the things that attracted you to your new rig?

A 32' Solera class C. No utilities on slides. Bigger floor plan. More kitchen counter space. Larger shower. Same chassis, close enough same weight. Updated engine, air suspension for towing.
Big change is the 500 lb tongue weight limitation kept trailer light with all spares/tools in Vegas. New one has 750 tongue weight capacity.
I am finding the reflections off windows do not agree with my cataracts.
Would have preferred to find a Thor model but could not find best match with local inventory. If Vegas floor plan was 30' would have been fine.

Are you trying to say after 7 years you have become a SOB?
Congratulations

Def check forum time to time, hard to believe almost 7 years have passed already. The Vegas has become an asset that is always there. I cannot say good enough things about experience with Vegas and Thor in general. The people on this board have been great, helpful and entertaining too. Great people here. Thanks for all the help and great stories over the years.
PS - I will still run with a full water tank.

Working on year 4. 25,000 miles. 2020 31y. It's been great. Only thing is need to keep up with the little things that work loose (basically screws). Thor built a great finished product. Worth more today than what I paid.

We had our Vegas 25.2 for 7 years and about 50,000 miles. Had a few issues and a bunch of mods, but overall a good experience. We're enjoying the floorplan of the Hurricane but the Vegas with mods was better on the road.
This forum and Ed Felker's Vegas/Axis manual have been priceless resources.

Great entering our 4th year.
Excellent.
Lora and I enjoy it 100%
No complaints and we look often at other models.
No chassis or big inside mods.
Solar & Inverter & AGM have been priceless.
All year using solar in driveway No battery issues.
Enjoy your new rig.

We're on our 5th year with our Vegas 25.2 in Ireland, and very happy with it. Loads if mods to make it easier to stay 'off grid' and, despite a long trip in France every year, no major problems at all. Glad to hear we're not alone in our Thor happiness 😊

Very timely post as we just sold our 2016 Axis 25.3 after nearly 5 years with 78,500 miles on the clock. I guess I'm a SOB now as well!
We had a very similar experience as the OP: Beyond what I consider routine maintenance and wear items, the Bird/Thrombetta failed shortly after we purchased it (replaced with a BIM) and the typical upholstery issue (recovered front seats and dinette). In total we logged approximately 5,000 miles/year: annual trips to Florida and the midwest plus more state parks than I can count. Fantastic memories and essentially zero issues.
Our boys were 9 and 5 when we purchased the Axis, but of course they are larger humans now and it was clear we needed something larger....that's the only reason we made the change. We looked at everything from gas Class A's to Super C's to diesel pushers and I quickly learned how well built our Axis was. We found you had to go to the higher end of the spectrum to get something that looked and felt solid. Even the new Thors didn't feel like they had the same quality...for example, the interior walls separating the rooms were flimsy, and I'm not paying >$100k for flimsy walls!
To further back this up, once we found a coach that checked all the boxes, of course it was 800 miles away. The selling dealership offered to have a local dealer in their network take it in on trade so we could fly in/drive home. The local guy came to evaluate it, and he told me that he was very impressed with how solid it was. He said that he took another (newer) Thor in on trade earlier that month and even the floor felt "soft". Of course the miles hurt the value, but we still got a decent trade in number. Honestly, we didn't look at a lot of MH's when we bought our Axis in 2018 so I can't say for sure that other MH's of that era felt like they had similar build quality, but it sure seems like it has declined in recent years?
In the end, the original deal fell through (long story) and we ended up selling it privately. The new owners flew in/drove home ~ 950 miles. When they arrived home the following week, they sent a text: "We are loving the RV....". I have no doubt that little jewel will continue to deliver miles and smiles in the years to come.
The Axis was our first MH/RV and I learned so much from this group, so a huge THANK YOU to everyone that has contributed such great content over the years!!

You start in Ireland. That eliminates a need for a boat ride!

This S.O.B. family is growing...but...were all still here. This forum is more about great folks helping each other than it is about Thor. Just think...if Thor didn't have as many issues as they consistently do...we would have never met each other. Congratulations on the "NO SLIDE" move. Can't say enough about how much I enjoy not missing that extra space. Most all this RV crap is the same parts and pieces anyway. It's just a matter of who does a better job of putting them together.
