Finding RV parks as you travel

I’m wondering what everyone uses to choose RV parks to overnight in as you travel. AAA is no help, we’ve been using a free app on our iPhone called Park Adviser. What are you all using?

We use goggle, Good Sam, Passport America and then check out the park on RV Park Reviews.

ParkAdvisor app has proven to be a jewel for me and my "first look"...non biased data. Passport America is OK but too many exclusions...most just list to get their name in the news...but they address your question..quick overnight locations during the week. Good Sam is OK but very biased and doesn't include a lot of fuel and campground locations.

The first place I always look is RV Park Reviews - Trusted Reviews of Campgrounds & RV Parks they even have an app. Its like the yelp of campground reviews.

Note, however, its run by the same people as the Thor forums here (you'll see it is advertised quite a bit around the site). I'm affiliated with neither, however, just a happy user of both.

Good Sam and KOA; that's where we start the process...

I forgot to say that we use Good Sam and KOA as well, but KOA only shows KOA which we’ve found are for the most part are pretty good campgrounds, although we’ve run across a few that were questionable. We really like the way that Park Adviser populates a map of campgrounds you can choose from to read the reviews on.

If you are just wanting to over night and don't need amenities of a campground, check out the app called "Overnight RV Parking". It shows locations that permit overnight stays, such as Walmart, Cracker Barrel, rest areas, etc.

When planning an extended stay, I use Good Sam's planner, Google, and state and federal campgrounds on Reverve America and recreation.gov.

google maps on my phone.... easy, mobile, take it with you, use it anywhere... zoom in on 'birds eye view' to see the park, etc... so easy.
go to any 'area' or region you think you'd like to search for your night's stay - input 'campground' or 'rv park', and watch all the pinpoints show you different option - zoom out to see more, zoom in to see more details, and sometimes even more options that don't show up on 'regional' views. Click on a pin to see info, go the website, or call...

never used anything else in 85,000 miles and 4 years all over the country...sometimes you'd be surprised how many campgrounds and rv parks, even small regional and city 'free' or low cost parks that would never show up anywhere else... especially since many of them don't advertise or have websites. : )

"OvernightRVparking"?

Did you mean to say: "WalMart parking lot"?

Yes many, not all Walmart’s allow overnight parking of campers. They say it encourages the people to shop at their store

We use the parkadivsor app. We've had great luck with it. It gives you locations, reviews, direct link to phone reservations, navigation and their web site. They also have a filter for Walmarts, costcos, gas stations, state parks, federal parks, private parks, koas, you name. You can't ask for more.

It really helped alot having navigation to the RV park and knowing exactly where the Walmart was on the way for groceries.

We have benefited greatly from www.overnightRVparking.com It is subscription, $25/year. They give you extra weeks for updating older reports or adding new locations.
We also use apps RVParky and AllStaysCampandRV
Forget AAA, they are focused on auto travel.

I love your signature: it reminds me of something my Grampa Denman once told me.

"We learn good judgement through our experiences; which often come from Bad judgement".
