First Purchase After RV

Hello Everyone,

Newbie here. I am getting ready to hit the road in two weeks. I just would like everyone's opinion. What is the first thing you bought to get ready for your first trip after you purchased your RV? There is so much out there that I want to get. Surge protector, tire pressure monitoring kit, etc....

Thanks,

John

Outfitting an RV is about like getting a Conestoga wagon ready for a cross-country trip.
We bought a low-pressure grill, sewer lines, water hoses, and power cables before we left the dealership with it...

...and then we got serious about the task!

Sewer hose, fresh water hose, small tool kit. As you go along, you will see additional things as needed or wanted in your travels.

Like filling a brand new house when you haven't owned one before.

You'll want to get a good sewer hose, a good water hose, perhaps even a good power cord. The "starter kit" the dealer gives you is usually pretty junky.

Surge supressor, water filter, gloves for sewer, outdoor rug, welcome mat, digital camera

Just take it out and enjoy it.
Best I can recommend is do a weekend camp out in your driveway before any long trips.

Small electric heater, paper plates, plastic forks, etc.
Don't get "a water hose" get a potable water hose, consider a heated one if it's going to be freezing .
Utility lighter, chairs, marshmellow, hot dog tools for the camp fire
Rechargeable flashlightS 1 for each person
Don't forget the dogs leash and poop bags

Welcome to the forum! Great suggestions so far.

Lists are your friend. You need one for packing, one for set up, and another for departure. You can find suggested lists, and some other useful knowledge in Ed Felker's excellent crowd-sourced manual for Vegas/Axis. Much of the content will apply to your coach, too.

My only addition to what's been suggested so far is your favorite beverage!

Some folks say that you need a package of Tylenol, and a bottle of liquor...
Don't believe them!

There's no one "first thing" to get. what you need depends on how good your dealer was and weather they threw in a "Starter Kit" which includes potable water hose, sewer hose and fittings, sample black tank chemicals, and toilet paper. They should have also filled your propane tank.

So you need those things.

Then you need some basic eating utensils and plates, etc. to fit how you will be using the RV.

Some food, drinks snacks help.

Finally, you need a pad of paper and writing utensil (or the electronic equivalent) to make 3 lists during your first few trips:
1 - List other day-to-day things you need to load in the RV
2 - List things that need fixed/improved - the "mod" list
3 - List things to add to the RV such as TPMS, Surge Protector, Inverter, etc.

Have fun with your new baby!

Welcome to our Campfire..Pull up a stump and sit a spell

Water pressure regulator (Buy a GOOD ONE with gauge) Instead of just a "Surge Protector, go with a "full meal deal" EMS ..I suggest one from Progressive Industries.. Single ply/RV TP.... a collapsible ladder and last.. a Tube or Three of Dicor Sealant..Go over all the Roof seams before leaving the driveway..

On long trips I take our portable twin tub washer/spin dryer to was clothes. Saves on quarters and laundry mats. Down side it must be smaller loads. I store it in the shower when not in use/on the road. Works great. Bought it on Amazon.
