Flags at night

Ok maybe its just me. But it just burns me seeing the US flag still on the the pole after sunset, even in the night. I lower my flags just around sunset. So does anybody here feel the same?

Sikoriko,
Union Pacific Railroad has applied a very large American flag to the sides of their new locomotives for several years now. A very large reflective peel and stick type. Though the locomotives are run through a wash rack occasionally the flags take a beating out in the elements. Many folks on the railroad forums jump all over U.P. for the disrespect they show the flags on their locos.
Sure, if the flag is not lit up at night it should come down. I look at the respect that the folks show in displaying the flag first, Union Pacific, too. I don't see a purposeful disrespect being shown by the flag not coming down at night or not being maintained perfectly on the sides of the locos.
Therefor I give a pass. My flag in my front lawn flies 24/7/365. I have every intention of placing a flood light out there but that hasn't happened yet.
Disrespectful? Yes, though none intended.
Best,
David

Disrespect to the flag. Let's talk about Thor and their vendor Irvine shade. If you have roller shades on your coach chances are the Irvine shade logo, which is an American Flag and states something like made in the USA, is upside down.

Here the link to the thread I posted earlier this year with a picture.

http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f17...thor-1097.html

As a note, the upside down flag was on every roller shade in the coach.

Most of the flags are on the telescoping poles, no lights. Being Ex military. I like to keep the tradition of raising and lowering the flags. and shame on Thor for displacing the flag upside down.

I'm sure most Americans do not know flag respect is codified in US law -- section 285b, title2, US Code is the flag code. And the flag should not be flown at night unless it is lit by lights. Given my military history, I'm like sikoriko -- I lower it at dusk and raise it first thing in the AM. And do so with solemn respect for all who defend this flag every day.

Disrespect is often in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure most of the people flying a flag at night mean no disrespect. I fly my flag 24x7 but I have a light on the top of the flag pole that pivots as the flag turns. I get more upset when I see flags being flow that are tattered and torn and faded.

I fly the American Flag 24/7 at home (illuminated at night) and in front of my RV when we are on the Road. As far as flying the Flag at night, I understand that it should be illuminated BUT as long as it Flies, let it be a symbol to those that seek to destroy it that we will defend it 24/7/365. 'MERICA !
