Fogged windshield

On the way back from a recent trip to FL and we hit a short downpour that was enough to make our windshield begin to fog after the wipers were on about 5-10 minutes.

I did what I usually do in my car which is to turn the temperature up, turn the fan to high and change the fan output to the Defrost position.

When I did that the entire windshield immediately fogged so badly that we literally could not see and I had to quickly slow down (and pray that no one was in front of me). After a few minutes the defrost did its work and the windshield did clear.

We have had class C's before and are new to the huge MH window. So...is there a trick or sequence that is used to fire up the defrost? I feel like this was operator error.

More notes, it was about 80 degrees out, we had the air condition in the cab on low when the rain came. It was a pretty hard rain, although not torrential.

Any suggestions? It was very scary.

Rain-X makes an anti fog product for the inside of the windshield. It works well. Also use it on bathroom mirror.

The two electric fans at the corners of the windshield are defroster fans. They should be aimed at the windshield near the drivers and passengers view spot on the windshield. On high, they with the dash A/C on defrost - recirculate, should keep the windshield clear. With the defroster fans on low and the dash A/C on - recirculate, the windshield will seldom fog up. If is really humid, I keep one fan blowing on the driver's side window and the passenger fan blowing across and down the windshield. It is best to never have the dash A/C on fresh air mode when it is raining. With mirror heat on, at least I can see what is to my left and the rear view camera takes care rear.

Thank you!

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. And now I know what those two little fans are for.
