Victron ip65 battery charger

Can you simultaneously run the generator and a portable battery charger like a smart victron charger for a faster charge to my 4,6 volt batteries.

Issue is at night boondocking my amp hrs usage is equal or close to the output of my generator..atleast I was told

What are you trying to say? Generators are not rated in amp-hrs.

Charging current from the generator is limited to the capacity of the converter (or inverter-charger), which is much less than the available power output of the generator.

You can add a second charger to the batteries at the same time but the increased charging current may not be what you expect as the "smart chargers" may fool each other into thinking the battery is at a higher state of charge than it really is.

It won't hurt to try, but it may not provide any overall benefit.

So it's not overall beneficial?

Your 5500 watt generator could theoretically provide 5500/14 = 393 amps to charge your batteries assuming no conversion or resistive losses.

The best way to charge your batteries faster is by using a larger capacity charger than your OEM 55 or 65 amp charger.
