Frequency of generator use?

Is there any rule of thumb on how often to run a generator while an RV is in the shop awaiting repairs in order to keep batteries charged?

Once a Month seems to pop up as a reasonable answer...

It depends on what is running off the batteries while in the shop.
Inverter?
Residential Fridge?

That is...if everything is off, and the batteries are good/new, then there will be very little parasitic draw.

So no generator is necessary.

Also, while in the shop, they sometimes plug in to 110 volt

How long is this rig going to be sitting in the shop awaiting repairs and who do you think will run the generator to charge the batteries?

If repairs are taking that long dues to parts you need to take that rig home to wait.

Thanks everyone. Will remove all loads to the extent possible before dropping it off and then bring home once it is evaluated and the parts are ordered.

Also of concern, of course, is how long it will take to recharge the batteries. The more often it runs the less time it will take to top up the batteries. As a potential future mod you might consider 100W (or so) of solar power that goes directly to the batteries (from the controller, I.e. bypassing the storage switch). My Renogy system only cost about $200 and it has kept my batteries completely happy. I bought 160W but so far only have 80W installed and it’s keeping up just fine. I don’t have a residential fridge or anything else to run while I storage though.
