Fresh water tank

Hello! Did a shake down cruise in my 2017 freedom elite. Mostly went well. Day two had an ant infestation Yikes! Anyone have suggestions for prevention? Other question is how much water [emoji98] do you leave in your fresh water tank traveling and storage?
Note thank you for the suggestion on the portable ac unit [emoji3]. Got a 10000 btu Toshiba. 111° outside and chill on the inside!!!!

Welcome to the forum. Unless you are boon docking, I only travel with 1/3 of a tank of fresh water to avoid the extra weight since I usually hook up to the campground city water supply when I park at my destination. When I store my motor home, I drain the fresh water tank as much as possible.

Ants...
Perhaps a good spray of s"something strong", around every ground contact point would help.
I always run with my tanks empty; but I've got a pretty low CCC on this Sprinter.

Ants usually climb the electrical cord or water hose. Just spray them down when you first hookup and every three or four days. If you ever get fire ants in the coach, you will always remember to spray. I always start out with a full water tank (50 gallons). We travel in the west, mostly, so hard water is always a problem; so we use tank water which is softened. After we get down to about 15 gallons remaining, I drag out the water softener and refill the tank.
