In the meantime, I am calling all of potential October campsites and make requests that don't put us next to any Tiffin Wayfarers with New York tags unless they can confirm your water tank is full.
Not to worry: we'll be spending our nights in nothing but the finest Wally-Mart parking lots!
We'll STILL be the cleanest folks on the property!

Unbelievable that this thread is 5 months old and has over 200 posts on this topic. The OP never even returned to comment of the comments.

"Big controversy", indeed!

Traveling empty made sense in the TT days when a full tank of water was a much larger percentage of the vehicle's GVW - in a MH, not so much.

Like 95% of RVers, I almost never travel empty - gotta have some water in the tank for restroom stops.
Likewise, I rarely travel full - the chance that I would unexpectedly need a full tank of fresh water while traveling is miniscule. OTOH, I have filled the FW tank at home during hurricane season; just in case (same reason the gas tank is full when at home in hurricane season).

So like a vast majority of RVers, there is some water in the FW tank when we travel, there's no exact amount we half to have. I don't need to justify why we have 1/3 tank or 25/64ths of a tank; we just keep water in there to flush the toilet and wash up.

But as long as people feel they need to put their two cents worth in the discussion, I guess this thread will live on.

Yup
200 posts and the 1/3 folk still can't explain why
Advantage isn't taken when advantage is given.

Maybe if they also never had more than 1/3 tank of fuel and propane.

Newbies:
Fill the tank.
Don't stand the chance to be caught without when need arises.

A camp with bad water.
A detour
A delay
A storm you might not want to be out in just to hook up a hose.
A bowel attack of notable note.
Emergency showers, two of them.
Camp has shut off water for the season(four times on our last 3,500 mile trip)

So many reasons to fill.
Only .001mpg reason not to.

Ducky,
Think about it for a moment. If you're setting up during a decent storm: you've already had your shower!!

Well, there is that.

Our first night stay in the 24.1 was in little rock Arkansas.
Huge storm, water 9 inches deep in the RV park.
No water, no electric.

I don't know, what if you get flagged to a weigh station and they have rules of traveling with less than .39 of a Full Tank? I mean it may muck up their OCCC calculations if everybody didn't have a Full Tank of Fresh Water.

My Motto is: Keep a Full Tank of Fresh Water and Carry On..

No way we travel without full tank unless between stops.
If stuck or apocalypse be prepared!
