Leave it on AUTO make sure your Propane is turned on and let it run on GAS as the RV manufacturers intended.

We always run our generator, not only for the fridge but so the AC will work and there is power to everything else in the coach.

Yeah always while we are driving there is another thread that talks about this in length. But it doesn’t hurt doesn’t use that much gas really and will work until you have a quarter of a tank of gas. For just the fridge alone we have found that when it runs on propane it doesn’t stay as cold and I would rather have the propane for cooking and heating. Easier to fill the gas tank then the propane tank.

Who says? Do "they" run their coach without gasoline if "they" are worried about a fire in an accident?

There are some places out there, where you're supposed to shut down your propane usage...

Yep, like some tunnels. I always wonder what they do in case of a CNG powered vehicle.

yeah, the propane has to be turned off at the valve at certain places...like they said, tunnels.

Also commonly suggested to turn things like fridges and furnaces off when fueling at the gas station. The concern there is the auto ignition sparking to light.....or the pilot light.... with gasoline fumes around...

The only other fire risk that I'm familiar with is concerning the ammonia, and internal corrosion caused by high temperatures....commonly caused by operating out of level. Corrosion eventually causes a leak, letting flammable stuff out to the pilot light. Has very little to do with operating while driving....

I have a controller from this guy. I feel good about it but cannot really confirm any of it...
Still he has lots of info on this subject throughout his site...useful even if you're not interested in his controller.

We only run the generator on the road when the dash A/C can't keep up. The fridge doesn't use much LP, and mine stays at 41 degrees on the second to coldest setting, running on LP. We traveled 7300 miles last summer, and only used a little more than one tank of LP, running just the fridge, the stove burner and the LP water heater only occasionally.

As for the tunnels, we've been through many with no restrictions on turning off the LP. There are some that do, but most we have found don't. One that did had a place to pull off and close the valve before entering the tunnel.

lol, no problem rawhide, it has always been a controversial topic. I have been rv'ing for 25 years and always ran the fridge on propane. Your concerns are understandable and that is why it is always best to ask. Enjoy your rig!

What part of Ohio you in? I am SW north of Dayton

I usually run my fridge on propane except when Im eating dinner or having a beverage and cigar outside. My outside seating under the sun shade is right by the refer vent. I hate listening to it! I also run the refer off the inverter while driving because the alternator is capable of putting out large amperage while under way. Charging the batteries and running the fridge with plenty to spare. I do not care about the laws prohibiting propane use while under way. There are laws against just about every thing these days, Especially fun things Laws are for stupid people who need protection or do not know right from wrong.

Only if that circuit is wired to the inverter. My coach which came with an inverter runs only the Tv's and outside kitchen fridge. If you have the inverter in your coach, unplug your power and turn on the inverter and see if the fridge switches off of propane
