Front curtains
2016 Thor Hurricane 35C
Has anyone found a source for new front curtains?
Ours like all others are falling apart.

Just sew a thermal liner in to replace the flaky fabric liner.

A local sew shop is always the best idea.
They'll use your old ones as patterns for the new ones.
It's likely the least expensive and you decide the quality.

For now, I just removed the liner so it looks better. I haven't decided on new or just replacing the liner. I don't see any urgency.

When we first bought our Hurricane the wife said the front curtains were shit. She had me take them down and she sewed black out curtains to the existing curtains. She found them at our local wally world. It was a simple fix, for her, and they look outstanding. They also provide more insulation to keep out the heat in the summer.

Mine are falling apart ... just ordered a new set from Thor. The new one's have a different liner, so I guess they figured out the original was deteriorating.

We went to Jo Anns for blackout liner and Mrs S dusted off her old sewing machine to attach it to the existing curtains. Most anyone with a little sewing skills could do the same for very little expense. That quick fix has held up well for over 3 years so far.

Outside “curtain” benefits
May I chime in with a thermodynamic suggestion? Don’t replace the worn inside curtain. Instead, buy a windshield cover. In Summer, ultraviolet rays pass through the windshield, hitting the dash and front seats (or an inside curtain), reflecting back in the infrared light spectrum. Now here comes the rub. Infrared light won’t exit your RV through the windshield! So, your RV gets hotter in Summer, unless you block the sunlight with a windshield cover.
In Winter, a windshield cover will insulate the RV like putting a blanket on the windshield .
I have used my windshield cover for a decade and love its thermal properties.

Front curtain
Ours did the same thing. We took a white sheet and soda to the back of the curtain where that flimsy material was falling off it worked perfectly.

This was one of the first things we ordered when we bought our used Windsport. Ours were in really bad shape, worn through the backing and curtain itself. We ordered front driver and passenger curtains through rvsupplywarehouse.com and we were very satisfied. Matched up the colors and size perfectly (as long as you measure right). We installed them in 10 minutes. They will do the windshield as well. A little pricey, but not bad considering they are custom, pleated, lined and include tiebacks and drapery carrier hardware.

This is a dear topic for us.
Rotted out curtain backings in the front cabin was one of the things on our punch list for a brand new 2019 Windsport; but the dealer would not commit to repair or replace
While the curtain deteriorations did not rise to level for us to not buy the Coach; by happen chance the Coach that we did buy didn't have any curtains at all
It came from factory with the MCD roller shades and blackouts. We have simply fell in love with them. The are very easy to use and have nice slow auto retract when you pull it down just a tad. They may be kind of pricey, but I don't think so. Most folks can install themselves; so it becomes less expensive for nice look, and more importantly very easy to use up and down versus dealing with a curtain.
The #1 RV Roller Shades Manufacturer | MCD Innovations
They also have what they call a Duo shade that can serve both as a blackout and screen filter to reduce UV. You can see outside but not inside

Oh we can do pictures
The MCD blackout shades on driver & passenger side windows are pull down and black. The MCD shades on front windshield are beige and fully automated. The two large side frame windows (Dinette & Sofa), and the rest of the coach shades are beige and pull down. There is a AC unit above the door; so heat has never been a problem. If it is really hot it is aided by bedroom AC unit which is ducted to the front.

We bought these from Steve’s Blinds & Wallpaper, stevesblinds.com. They were an easy install. I had to build end brackets for them, I used angle aluminum painted to match. Be very careful in height measurements, mine were a little long. First photo is rotated.

The curtains on my 27k were made out of a paper like substance it seems, they literally fell apart in little pieces. Kinda turned to dust when you touched it. I took them off, cut out the crap liner, bought nice curtain liner at a fabric store and had a seamstress sew them in. They look great, and do a much better job of keeping the heat out in the summer. Now the seats are starting to flake, Thor really used inferior products in 2014!

I replaced the liner myself with something from JoAnn's fabrics.
I can't believe how much darker and quieter it is now. Sadly, most of the sewing shops in our area (where they do projects) are closed for walk in customers and I had to do it myself. I can sew but not so well, however it came out looking fine and only I know the issues.

I'm going to do this before next summer. On my 30 Amp MH with only one 15000 AC, the heat here is hard to combat. I'm going to try the windshield and side glass covers before I go into the problem of adding a second AC.
