Windshield wiper issue ... Help pls

Hello, in the spring we purchased a 2011 hurricane 30q. For the first time recently we used the windshield wipers, they went back at forth very slowly, jerky, started very slowly then sped up a bit as they crossed the windshield then slowed again. A couple times they stopped and then started again. To me it sounds like the motor may be dying, but I was wondering if you think there could be something else, before I go out and replace the motor.

Thanks for your comments,

Jim

How old are the wiper blades? If they are old and dry, sometimes they drag on the glass. Try a light sandpaper on them if the are old. Best to replace them for best action. Also check the housing around the motor area to make sure all is fastened tight.

Thanks Gerry. I just oiled all the "knuckles" to make sure they were lunricated, never thought about the wipers but a great suggestion, it is 5 years old with no miles (just over 1000) when we bought it so assume they have never been changed, will pick up new set.

Jerry,

Even though it was a long process I put RainX on the windshield of our Vegas 24.1 (with the older BIG windshield) and the wiperblades seem to just skate across is so much easier and the wipe is soooo much more complete. Might help take some of the stress and/or work load off the motor.

I agree I use rain x on my cars and the hurricane. I put 2 coats on hurricane windshield and if you are at highway speed I never have to use windshield wipers, even if really raining hard. Amazing stuff.

This is why I have not used wipers yet, because when it rained, rain x kept the water running off and never used wipers .
